My mum sadly entered this care home on end of life care from hospital.

I cannot speak highly enough of the support we received here at such a difficult time. The carers would not only care for mum with such kindness, but sat alongside me when I really needed some help. I will always be grateful for that. ALL of the staff are very efficient and work very well individually at their jobs, and also as a team. This was really apparent, how they all pull together to help out and make it really work which it does. Everyone was very positive and loved working there. Several different staff members from different teams really made a difference to our experience. We are very grateful to ALL Birchwood heights staff for all your help, professionalism and kindness.

I have lived in my current home for 60 years and never thought I would leave as I loved it. However, health issues have prevented this and I can think of no better place to call this my second home. Within 24 hours I knew this was where I wanted to be. Jenny

The day we stepped into Birchwood Heights, we knew it was the best place for my mum. Everyone was so kind, helpful, and nothing was ever too much. All staff are amazing, Receptionists are more than Receptionists, they interact with all the residents and families. Thank you, everyone and Sandy for being there for mum.

Birchwood Heights care home is a wonderful caring home, the staff are all amazing. The home is clean throughout. I chose Birchwood Heights as it felt like a 5 star hotel. My mum didn't like the idea going into a care home, but the months my mum stayed she's loved it right from the start. The staff took very special care with mum. The food was amazing. The management team so caring. The home has may features like a bar, spa pampering area, tea shop, Movie Room, and activities plus much more. My mum received very good care, the up most respect while on palliative care I couldn't ask for any more. I'm so grateful that mum enjoyed her stay I only wished mum had longer. Please view this care home for your love one. Thank you to all the staff.

My mother joined Birchwood Heights in April this year. During our initial visits we received an amazing warm and professional welcome from the staff and residents. The day to day reality has been exactly that staff are kind and caring, going the extra mile to ensure all Mum's needs are met with compassion and good humour. As her family we have been welcomed, supported and kept informed.

We highly recommend Birchwood Heights.

This home is absolutely amazing. They are so caring and friendly.Everyone talks to everyone. When I leave my dad I know he is well looked after and I don't have to worry at all. His well fed and the food is excellent , medication is on time and they watch him take it. Entertainment is brilliant. The care home is so clean and welcoming no matter what day or time you go. I wouldn't want my dad to be anywhere else in his later years of life but at this care home with all the residents and there families the management team ,carers and housekeepers that all look after him and make him smile, laugh and feel loved and wanted.

My father has been a resident at Birchwood Heights care home at Swanley in Kent for over 2 years, and has enjoyed his stay there. The staff are amazing, I have never met a group of people who are so caring, if you gave them a score of 1-10 I would give them 1000. More recently my fathers heath has got worse, but the care was exceptional, putting in monitors so that if he moved they would know to avoid falls, when his anxiety kicked in they spent quality time reassuring him and keeping him calm. Sadly he passed away a week ago, and the care and compassion that we received from the staff was amazing, they made sure that Dad was safe and we waited for the funeral directors to collect him. They team gave him a very emotional guard of honour out of the home..I was so happy we chose Birchwood Height and I would highly recommend them to anyone, they are all amazing and I will be forever grateful for the love and care they showed my father

My mum has been a resident for 2 years and enjoys being with the other residents and socialising. She likes taking part in all the varied activities. The home is well designed and she liked the view from her window and being out in the garden. Her room is always kept clean and the staff are all wonderful and supportive. She is treated with respect and dignity and I'm really happy with her care.

My wife and I came to Birchwood Heights in February 2024 and were very happy here but my wife passed peacefully away at the end of May 2024. We had been together since 1953 and a family of two boys and two girls all of whom are still close together and visit us here and very frequently and are known and warmly welcomed by all the staff and management who comforted me and still do, following the sad passing here of my wife.

From the first viewing we knew this was the place for my mum. We had looked at others (none has friendly) every member of staff was so friendly helpful and kind. The home visit to my mum house was lovely nothing was to much trouble, when my mum moved in to the home I couldn't believe how the staff already knew her name. It took a couple of weeks for her to settle in but she loves it. Mum likes to sit in the Bistro and watch the world go round and everyone stopping for a chat. The activities are great they keep her mind going.

I started my career in care in 2008 as a Carer and worked my way up to become a Deputy Manager and now General Manager. I joined the Oakland Care team in 2022 when Birchwood Heights opened. I am passionate about ensuring every resident is happy and enjoying a stimulating, fulfilling life. I love building a good rapport with all the residents and being someone they trust and can talk to. I am very lucky to be part of an incredible team that is dedicated to going above and beyond for our residents. Every day is different at Birchwood, but each day we make great memories with our residents. Outside of work, I love the outdoors, sitting in the sunshine, hiking, and recently discovered a new passion for bike riding.

I am delighted to have joined the Oakland Care family as Senior Client Relations Manager for Birchwood Heights. My experience in the role goes back 11 years now, including the commissioning of a new care home. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than assisting families to explore full-time care options, whilst sharing insights during what is often a stressful time for them. Outside of work, my biggest passion has always been travel, which hopefully will become easier again in the fullness of time!

I have worked in the care sector for 15 years. During this time, I have met many residents, all with different needs. I’m very passionate about what I do, and I love making a difference and will always go that extra mile. Since joining the team at Birchwood Heights, this has been a wonderful experience, and I love coming to work. Everyone is so supportive, like one big happy family. During my time out of work, I love spending time with my family and friends making new memories and exploring new ideas.

After years of raising children, helping to grow family businesses, working on the school’s PTAs, and being a Foster Carer, it was time for a change in my life. I have always wanted to work in the care sector, but I just didn’t know in which area! I feel very fortunate to be the Lifestyles Manager at Birchwood Heights. I love putting together a varied, weekly activity programme for our residents to enjoy. This is by far the most rewarding job I have ever had; I love encouraging our residents to try new things and to socialise with each other. I also feel very blessed to be working alongside a fantastic, kind, caring team who all want the same thing… for our residents to have the best life possible!

Louise Groves
Louise GrovesJob Title:Client Relationship AssistantJoined: 2022

After working in retail for six and a half years to ensure I was around to raise my two girls, it was time to change and start a new career for myself. I moved to the care sector, and in the few short weeks I have been here, I realise maybe I should have moved a lot sooner, as this, apart from having my girls, is probably the most rewarding thing I've done. Ensuring the residents have a smile on their faces makes my day. When I joined Oakland Care, I was instantly welcomed to the family, and I love coming to work every day. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and going on holidays.
