Review of Maplewood Court from Michelle J (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My Mum was a resident in Maplewood Court for just over 9 months up until she passed away in July 2026. She really enjoyed her time here, she was mixing with people again, taking part in activities, absolutely loved the amazing singers who came in regularly. She began eating much better and became the Mum we'd not seen for a long time again. The people who work here go above and beyond to make the residents lives as simple and stress free as they can. They were all brilliant with my Mum and they showed her so much care, respect and compassion and she really responded well to this. The home itself is such a lovely welcoming environment, so beautifully decorated and we really enjoyed taking Mum down to the bistro or having a wander in the lovely gardens.

In summery, this is a care home that I would 100% recommend to anyone, literally couldn't have wished for a better place for my lovely Mum to spend her final days in.

Overall Experience
Maplewood is a special caring place.

and cared for our relative for 3yrs

It is modern, with good clean facilities with spacious rooms, with en suite and a good laundry service.

Food is well presented and meal times well supported with available staff to assist.

The care is good and staff are all approachable and happy to help. They treat everyone individually and know them well, treating them with respect and dignity.

There are plenty of appropriate activities if needed and plenty of social interaction with residents from all staff-carers, maintenence, cleaners, catering everyone.

It is never easy finding an appropriate care home, but would not hesitate in recommending Maplewood. Its like a hotel with care facilities and great friendly staff.

The staff really make this a good home

Maplewood is nothing short of exceptional. The facilities themselves are fantastic but what really makes this place stand out is the team there. Every person involved there always have time to speak to you and help you with anything. Not only that they treat the residents there with care, respect and dignity. Even at particularly challenging times they are always thinking of not only the resident but their families and what they can do to make their lives easier. I can not express my thanks highly enough to them.

I would like to thank Lambwood Heights for the excellent care that my dad recieved during his two week Physio stay. After a fall dad has lost his confidence. Working with the excellent physio Paticia, she put him through his paces, and he left walking more confidently
From the intial enquiry, to meeting Sally-Ann (the Manager) in person, plus the at home assessment, I could not fault the care.

Thank you to all of the team at Lambwood Heights.

Review of Maplewood Court from A B (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 24 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
The home is brilliantly run by a group of dedicated, friendly and welcoming staff who really get to know their residents. There are a range of activities organised, day trips and more so that it feels more like a hotel than a care home, offering older generations the dignity to age graceful and not miss out on making memories and enjoying themselves. For residents who prefer not to partake in group events, there are ample rooms and facilities for family gatherings.
As my grandfather's health declined, the home were incredibly supportive and after his passing provided great support for my family. The staff take the time to build relationships, understand and bond with residents and it comforts me to know that he was surrounded by people who cared for him physically but also offered him friendship.

I could not have wished for a better place for my grandad to spend his final years and cannot recommend the home more highly.

Review of Harpenden Springs Care Home from L W (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Harpenden Springs has only been open for a few months, but everything already runs like clockwork, as though it has been established for years. The staff are caring and always treat residents with dignity, kindness, and respect. There are weekly visits by doctors from a local surgery and other healthcare providers.
The home is always clean and well maintained, creating a modern, comfortable and homely atmosphere. There is a good range of activities to keep residents engaged, and it's clear that a great deal of thought goes into promoting both their physical and emotional wellbeing. There is also an onsite hairdresser and beautician.
Communication with families and residents has been excellent. There are Quarterly Relative Forum Meetings and Quarterly Resident Board Meetings.

It is reassuring to know that our Parents are happy, safe, and well cared for. We would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone looking for high-quality residential car

Review of Maplewood Court from Ann C (Friend of Resident) published on 15 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Our friend came to Maplewood Court as a stopgap measure as its sister home (much closer to us all) had no space. He has had 2 months in residence on the nursing floor. We cannot fault any aspect of his care. The carers nursing & activity staff have all put themselves out to tailor day to day living to our friends appropriate needs. The food and service is amazing, the bistro wonderful. However, overall it is the staff who make it exceptional. Thank you all at Maplewood Court!

My precious mum was sadly failed by the care home that she had been in for two years. She ended up in A+E with broken ribs having had the last fall of 26 in one year! The consultant has given her up to 3 months to live. She has no communication skills because she has end stage dementia. On being discharged from hospital she is now in a nursing home getting the care that she rightly deserves. This place puts the previous home to shame in every aspect of what it is to be a 'CARE' home. The staff are extraordinary in their kindness and humanity. They work together like a large extended family. I can't praise this place enough.

Review of Beechwood Grove from Pam C (Niece of Resident) published on 14 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Beechwood Grove is excellent, providing a very homely environment for my elderly Aunt. You can see all the staff care, and you can feel it, by their interaction with residents, visitors and colleagues. From every angle within the Care Home there is a beautiful view of the South Downs, rooms are spacious and well-furnished and the variety and quality of food is excellent. Their activity programme is fantastic and my aunt has no reservations in either joining in, or sitting quietly among the group. Nothing is too much trouble and my Aunt is very well-cared for, and within one week is relaxed, comfortable and happy. And as family, we thank you, all of you.

Review of Osbern Manor Care Home from Peter B (Son of Resident) published on 8 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mum was lucky enough to get a place here. She has mixed dementia and has deteriorated quite quickly and as been here approx 5 weeks after being in hospital for 5 weeks and after being told prepare for end of life the turn around has been amazing. Since we had the welcome walk around for ourselves we were amazed at how lovely and how the place is run. The carers are amazing always smiling and willing to help and even the management know each resident by name there not treated as a patient. My mum is now flourishing and engaging and enjoy being with other people her age after being stuck in her council home on her own with just 4 care visits a day. The carers talk to her and make sure she does as many activities she wants too. Her room is lovely and she is really enjoying being there. After months of looking after our mum by ourselves which has been so tiring as I work it's a relief to know she is in a lovely modern place with people that generally care for her.

Review of Beechwood Grove from Dorothy R (Sister of Resident) published on 2 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I have just returned from a forum for family and friends of residents of Beechwood Grove, and never cease to be surprised how their wonderful staff, besides giving their residents, care and comfort, find "ever changeing" ways of making life interesting and fun. A short while ago I visited to find myself among preparations for a "photo shoot" the place was "humming" with activity, gentlemen looking "sauve" and ladies being "coiffed"" and delving into the "extras" box, full of silk scarves, bows, tiaras earings etc. The idea was to photo those who wished, to picture with them in a setting of work that they had undertaken for most of their lives..ie. Design, health service, music etc. I watched a lady resident in the Hairdressing Salon, deftly handleing a hair dryer & brush whilst being photoed, all great fun. This week its Tennis & Football. Surprisingly, well attended.

My mum sadly entered this care home on end of life care from hospital.

I cannot speak highly enough of the support we received here at such a difficult time. The carers would not only care for mum with such kindness, but sat alongside me when I really needed some help. I will always be grateful for that. ALL of the staff are very efficient and work very well individually at their jobs, and also as a team. This was really apparent, how they all pull together to help out and make it really work which it does. Everyone was very positive and loved working there. Several different staff members from different teams really made a difference to our experience. We are very grateful to ALL Birchwood heights staff for all your help, professionalism and kindness.

Review of Lambwood Heights Care Home from Suzanne S (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 June 2026 Submitted via Website

My dad stayed at Lambwood Heights for a month's respite after a burst stomach ulcer and general ill health. The turnaround in his health has been amazing. The home and staff have exceeded our expectations. Dad has been very well cared for and, once he was feeling better, has really enjoyed the activities, including chair exercise and yoga, cake making and enjoying the singers. The bistro is a lovely touch and we have often all sat having a hot drink and cake and talking to the staff and other residents.

We are very grateful and feel very lucky that we found such a fantastic home. Thank you to you all at Lambwood Heights.

Review of Elsyng House from Declan L (Son of Resident) published on 22 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
From the moment you walk through the door, you feel it. This is a place built on genuine care and compassion.
Our mother spent the final seven weeks of her life at Elsyng House. She died with dignity, free from pain, thanks to a carefully structured medication plan. That is everything a family could hope for giving us quality time with our mum.
The staff are extraordinary. They fulfil a mission. Every interaction was marked by kindness, professionalism and real warmth. They treated our mother as an individual, not a resident.
The facilities are exceptional. The monthly Catholic Mass, the in-house hairdresser, the beautiful garden and café-style seating area transform this into a real home. Somewhere people can live, not just be looked after.
Those seven weeks gave our mother comfort, security and peace. They gave our family time with her that we will always treasure.

To every member of the team at Elsyng House: thank you for looking after our mother so well and also her family.

Amazing care home. My dad has been there since the middle of March. He has been very well cared for. He is always clean, shaved and dressed in clean clothes.
