Maplewood Court

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Maplewood Court is a luxury care home unlike any other. It's an extended family.
I agree private care being funded by someone's lifetime of hard work is shocking. Consult legal professionals at least 7 years before you get to this stage. Having said that it truly comes down to End of Life care
provided by all staff. At Maplewood the care, love, respect, compassion and dignity shown towards my mother-in-law during her final days and hours was exemplary. Words of gratitude are just not enough. Maplewood is run by an excellent caring management team and that's what counts!
Reply from Jo Mazza, General Manager at Maplewood CourtThank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It was our absolute pleasure to care for your Mother in Law and she is missed so much as are you. I will of course pass on your lovely feedback to the team. Jo

Hyllden Heights

from Alison W (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 29 April 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father-in-law had become frail and unable to go out alone, but remained fiercely independent and resistant to 'being cared for'. He reluctantly agreed to try Hyllden Heights, and I think expected to be able to find fault with an 'institutional' timetable. To our relief, the home has shaped itself
to his diet and eating schedule and he in turn has actually enjoyed some different offerings. His health and even eyesight seem to have improved (perhaps because of rigorous management of his medications), and instead of living in front of the TV, he has been exploring the home and becoming interested in the social life. The staff have been unfailingly kind and smiley, without being intrusive or patronising. It feels like he has come back to life.

I have nothing but praise for the wonderful team at this beautiful new home. They go above and beyond to be accommodating to their residents and really take time to make them feel at home. The food is amazing and of restaurant quality. The activities on offer are varied and encourage participation by
all, including family and staff! The home is kept spotless and is well managed by a very approachable management team. Any concerns are quickly addressed and actioned. I feel very confident that my mum is in safe, caring and compassionate hands.

My 91 year old mother moved into Harpenden Springs a month ago on their opening day. Our whole experience has been as good as we could possibly hope for. The staff are wonderful and have really got to know her. The physio and general exercise has improved her mobility hugely. The food is great and lovely
to see her sitting in the dining room having breakfast with the other residents.
Mum is engaging with the activities and I have had fun with her there for the first in a while. I would highly recommend .

Hastings Court

I can honestly say we've been really happy with Hastings Court.
From the start, the team made us feel welcome. We had a tour with the Customer Relations Manager Sara who was very patient with us, answered all our questions, and clearly knew the residents and staff really well, which gave us a lot of
confidence.
The home itself has a warm, friendly feel to it rather than being clinical. It's always clean and well kept, and there's a nice atmosphere when you walk in. My grandparent has settled in well and seems genuinely happy, which is the most important thing for us as a family.
We've been really impressed with the activities on offer - there always seems to be something going on to keep everyone engaged - and the food has been great too, which makes a big difference day to day.
It's also reassuring to know that the home provides both residential and nursing care which most of the other homes we viewed didn't have Nursing care.

Beechwood Grove

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum, who lives with dementia, moved into Beechwood Grove in August 2025.
The home is unlike any other that we visited. It is more like a hotel than a care home. The decor and furnishings are very relaxing and welcoming.
The food is excellent, Mum has put on weight and as well as the 3 meals a day,
The Bistro is always available with refreshments for residents and visitors alike.
The activities are second to none- not just a boring round of quizzes everyday, but baking, arts and crafts, musicians, dancers, people giving talks, the Beechwood Olympics was the noisiest event I have witnessed with residents joyfully winning medals for curling, darts, and basketball hoops. There are games and puzzles as well as word games played. Also quiet events like Knit and Natter.
What makes this place so special however, is the staff. No words can describe how great they all are, from housekeeping, activities, care, and admin. Nothing is too much trouble. I am so glad Mum is here.

My brother has dementia and has been looked after in Hastings Court for over 3 years. He has always received wonderful care here from here from the very beginning. Every time I come to say I'm planning to come, I immediately get the sense that the first person I speak to knows him & welcomes my visit
together with my wife. On his floor, I always ask how he is both physically & mentally & know immediately that they are not only looking after him but care for him as a person. They are all simply marvellous & provide him with great comfort.

I am the older sister of a resident who has lived in the care home for approximately 18 months. I am not her next of kin - her youngest son is, and he has Power of Attorney and a close liaison with the staff. All the staff I have met are always polite and helpful. I visit once a week. My sister is always
clean and well dressed, and the staff are really helpful and patient. The home is immaculate and well furnished. Medical or nursing staff available when required. A varied menu with plenty of choice. Good range of activities and facilities, cinema, hairdressers, etc. I am very pleased with her care, it compares well with other homes I have visited

From my initial contact and tour, I cannot fault every one of the staff I cam into contact with. Nothing was too much trouble and I knew my husband was in excellent care, which put my mind at rest after he had a bad fall and needed respite and nursing care after leaving hospital. Very grateful to everyone
and would definitely recommend Beechwood Grove, and would not hesitate to use them again if necessary.

I took delivery of a mobility scooter recently, and the whole ethos of the care home itself. Help, support, and interest from every department. Maintenance helped confirm how to use it and enabled storage. The dining room and kitchen staff held back my delayed lunch. All other staff showed interest
