Woodland Grove

Our mum stayed at Woodland Grove for 2 weeks respite in August 2026 so that my sister and I could have a break. My mum has Alzheimer's but not advanced enough that she needs assistance with everything so the wonderful Gloria, who showed us around, said our mum could be cared for on the ground floor of Woodland Grove which is less intensive care and what we thought would be most appropriate for mum. It's a beautiful care home, it does feel homely but also more like a hotel than a care home. The staff are all wonderful, from Fiona, the Client Relations Manager, to Gloria, to Sharon on Reception, and everyone in between, they were all amazing. They were so friendly, so kind, so helpful and it meant we could finally switch off and know our mum was in the best hands. Mum missed us of course but she had everything she needed, lots of company, great food and she even missed it when we brought her home. For any carers or potential residents out there, we can't recommend it highly enough.

My partner was booked in for 4 weeks's respite care, but unfortunately the home did not live up to expectations. After only 2 weeks I brought him home because he felt unsafe and anxious and I was worried about him. Our main complaint was that the standard of care was not consistent. Not all carers were responsive and respectful. My partner had 5 falls in 12 days because his buzzer was not answered quickly enough. He couldn't even look forward to meal times as he found the food too bland. I visited every day as I felt I needed to check on him and I got the impression that the management were more focused on their computers than engaging with residents and overseeing the staff. The management were made aware of our concerns.

Overall not very satisfactory. The home is very slow to respond to email requests. Does not proactively communicate and at times has been unhelpful in the care of our mum, e.g. 1) We can't currently move her into a wheelchair because all the staff are on a break. 2) It took a month to repair her TV.

My Dad stayed for 4 weeks respite care to improve his mobility, better control blood sugar, and for comfort and peace of mind while my family was abroad on a holiday.

Overall we were very pleased with the service provided in all areas.

Although my wife Barbara Wilcox has been bed bound for some time, I visit every day and find the staff are consistently courteous and caring with only the residents needs and comforts in mind. Our two children also feel that that this the best place for their Mum to be.

Absolutely fantastic.

Our resident moved here from a more expensive care home in the same area. The difference we have all experienced is marked. Woodland Grove is immediately a more welcoming environment - airy, well designed and altogether more lively. We have been impressed with the care staff and management who evidence a 'can do' approach. The range of activities offered is impressive. Our resident particularly relishes the tranquil greenery surrounding the home with a lovely reading area under the trees. We are all glad that we moved home.

I visit on a regular basis (min weekly) and find it to be cosy and the staff attentive and supportive. Meredith the receptionist is also so approachable.

The team on the first floor are exceptional. They are caring, attentive and cheerful. They always make sure dad is comfortable and remember the little details that are important to dad, like his music. They are all kind, and you can see how well they work as a team. Thank you all so much!

We are very impressed with the home - every aspect seems to be going well, the place is well run, and - most important - the staff all seem happy and go out of their way to help however they can. They've even fixed the wifi after a recent request so my dad can watch iPlayer.

I have been visiting my friend Dorothy, known as Twiggy by her friends/family for the past 18 months - since she arrived at Woodland Grove I couldn't wish for her to be in a better environment with wonderful staff, full of empathy for residents, lovely surrounding and good wholesome food as well as activities for residents to participate in if they wish. She is a wonderful lady and I thank you all for being there for her every need.

My husband is a relatively new resident and the family were worried about him accepting the situation and settling in. We have been surprised that he has done both which is a huge relief. We are greatly encouraged by the kindness and respect shown to him as he suffers from Parkinsons and Dementia. The staff genuinely care about his welfare and have also supported me through this difficult transition. I feel confident leaving him in their care as they are an outstanding team.

We have been using the home for a few years. First to see my sister in law who sadly passed last year. Now we visit our brother-in-law whenever we can. We find the staff very friendly and also the residents.

Almost constant buzzer was the only negative but extremely amazing.

I am advised not to mention particular staff in writing this review so I just want to say that they listen to him and me and make adjustments where necessary and possible. With their encouragement he has also taken advantage of the visits they make in their mini bus and the small group outing is helping break the transition.

My partner has been in Woodland Grove for over eight years. It is an excellent care home with excellent staff. There is a lovely atmosphere the moment you enter the reception area. I looked at a few different types of homes but were very pleased we chose Woodland Grove. Well done to the managers and staff.

My mother had an amazing 80th birthday party. The room was beautifully decorated and the food was outstanding. Every single person commented on how lovely the experience was for them and Mum. It surpassed my expectations. There was a huge range of foods provided covering vegetarians and non-veg people - and the cake was perfect. One of the best parties we've organised for Mum and she's still talking about it two weeks later! Thanks to the whole team involved.

I chose this care home for myself after brain surgery. I was delighted with the service provided. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly and approachable. The food was delicious and plentiful. I would rate this facility most highly. Thank you to the whole team!
