My mother has been a resident of Woodland Care Home since April 2021. Yesterday she celebrated her 80th birthday. As she isn't comfortable dining in restaurants anymore and my home isn't designed for parties - we took her party celebrations to her! Woodland provided us with the use of their Snug Room, which can accommodate up to 20 guests, for the afternoon. So her family and close friends were able to visit and have an intimate birthday party in the comfort of her own home! - the staff were fabulous and assisted with decorating the room with balloons and a Happy Birthday banner, they provided champagne flutes, crockery and tea and coffee making and we just rocked up with bottles of Prosecco, a music playlist and Marks and Spencers party food! We thank the staff, and all involved and are very grateful for all they do to make a wonderful memory for us all. Special thanks to the Chef in catering for making the delicious birthday cake too! we all had a lot of fun mum really enjoyed her day.
We are delighted the celebrations went well and that the Home were able to help make very special memories for you all.
There were no balanced meals at all, whilst others were given 3-course meals for lunch, I was not given proper meals and sometimes, no food at all!
Hot meals are served for lunchtime and stale moulded sandwiches for dinner! There was a kitchen opened after dinner!
Considering this very expensive care home, one would expect basic essentials every day. Short staff of nurses and carers, during the nights so my needs were not fulfilled thus, I was depressed and lonely! Often collapsed due to lack of food and fluids. Restless nights due to other residents shouting and swearing with the buzzers bleeping for more than 40 minutes. Stained carpets not cleaned for days. Small uncomfortable beds, fell off more than seven times evoking more arthritic pains and distress. Irritating old worn-out bed sheets! My new soft blanket was taken. New meds were not given.
Every resident under our care has a tailored personalised care plan according to their needs. We are really sorry that your experience at Woodland Grove didn’t meet your expectations, we have tried to reach you on several...
My impressions and opinions on Woodland Grove have been nothing but positive since my mother became a resident three months ago and, indeed, even prior to that. My family and I have previous experience with several residential care homes, I can say, quite honestly and categorically, that none of these bear comparison to Woodland Grove in every aspect of care, be it compassion, patience, accommodating facilities, hygiene, entertainment and the level of professionalism and devotion to its vulnerable residents.
Thank you for your review, it has been a pleasure to welcome your mother to our family at Woodland Grove.
My Mother has received first-class care for over three and a half years now and I would highly recommend Woodland to anyone considering this care home for a family member or friend. The attention to detail, across every spectrum of care home functions, is first-class.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, your feedback will be very valuable to those looking for care.
Since arriving, he has thrived, the food, company and care have left him looking better than he has in years. It's a pleasure to go and see him and join him for a coffee in the bistro, and in the summer to sit in the gardens.
Please do thank all the staff, it's a huge weight off our minds to know he is so well cared for and more importantly happy.
Much appreciated.
Thank you for your review and it has been a pleasure for all staff to see him really settle well with us. Your comments will be shared with all staff.
All the staff I have come into contact with are very caring and do their very best for my mum. I feel happy leaving her at Woodland Grove where I know she will be well looked after, she is safe and there are plenty of activities/people around to try to keep her as stimulated as possible. It is always possible to speak to senior staff if necessary. I find the fairly new IT system that is in place very useful to keep in touch with how my mum is on a day to day basis and if I ever have any concerns/queries these are always addressed satisfactorily with senior staff.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, it is much appreciated. We will ensure your feedback is shared with all staff.
This is a care home with the emphasis on care. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and all members of staff from the admin team down to the support staff all approach their roles with kindness and empathy, not just to the resident.
Your review is valuable to ensure our standards continue to meet expectations. Thank you.
I understand how difficult it is trying to choose a care home for a loved one but I would have no hesitation in recommending Woodland Grove. The very first time I walked into the reception it felt warm and homely. All staff without exception greet you with a smile and any queries or concerns are dealt with promptly and efficiently. My father who is bedridden and unable to ask for help is on the nursing level, he is checked regularly, and staff are always able to give me an update on how he’s been. Importantly the standard of hygiene in the rooms and communal areas is very high. Sadly, my father isn’t able to take part in the activities but he is, however, able to enjoy the “one–to–one” service which is sometimes set aside every day for someone to sit and engage with a resident on a one-to-one basis. It gives us great peace of mind knowing all our father’s needs are being met.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. A big focus for our lifestyles team is to provide a valuable one-to-one support to those who require it and with your support, we have been able to put this in place for your father.
Always welcome on entry and on leaving.
Direct communication with senior staff is easy to arrange when necessary.
Thank you for taking the time to review your feedback is very important to us.
I would choose Woodland for myself if or when necessary.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Your feedback is valuable.
Good care was provided and excellent activities. Some initial problems relating to diet and food, also took a long time for staff to get to grips with my mother's hearing aid. Staff do all they can to get it right.
Thank you for taking the time to review and working with us on a person-centred approach for your mother.
We moved Mum into Woodlands from another home at the beginning of this month. The staff are just lovely - welcoming, kind and friendly. There were a few teething issues which were dealt with immediately and efficiently. Mum has some challenging medical issues, but we feel confident that they are being dealt with, with kindness and professionalism. If they say they are going to do something, it gets done. The surroundings are lovely and it's a real pleasure to visit. I would always dread going to see her in her previous home, but just really look forward to our visits now. So pleased we chose Woodlands - we looked at lots of different places in our search and without doubt, this is head and shoulders above anything else we saw. Thank you to all for looking after Mum so well.
Thank you for your review this will be shared with all staff involved in mums' care.
My mum went to the care home this week with vascular dementia. I was so worried about leaving her in a home - pretty much one of the saddest days of my life. I am writing this review because if you are reading it you are probably feeling the same way. I viewed quite a few homes before deciding on this one and I have to say, from the start, the people here won it over for me with the friendly receptionists! The staff have been so helpful and kind, I couldn't have asked for more. I feel my mum has had the best care possible. She is very happy and content and keeps telling me every time I visit how wonderful the staff and food are. They have taken Mum out on a trip and there is lots of entertainment during the day keeping her busy. I cannot believe how different I feel from the day I dropped her here. I would recommend this home to anyone. Mum will definitely be going back here for respite again, she loves it here.
Thank you for your very kind and honest review. We will ensure Snowdrop receive your feedback.
My dad spent the last week of his life in Woodland Grove and was treated with kindness, dignity and respect. I am very grateful to all the staff, who were very kind and caring. We were also looked after as a family.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, your very kind words will be shared with all on Primrose.
My sister was very well looked after, especially in the last three weeks of her life. The staff were excellent in her care. I could leave her every day and know she was cared for and comfortable.
Thank you for taking the time to review, and we will ensure your kind comments are passed to our care team.
My mum was a resident at Woodland Grove during the last few months of her life. Prior to this time, my mum was in two other care homes so I had some experience of care homes and how they operated. Woodland Grove exceeded all my expectations of what I had previously seen. The staff were incredibly caring, kind and professional. The environment was warm, bright and modern. The rooms were beautiful - the room my mum had, had doors that opened onto a paved garden and was furnished beautifully. Woodland is in a class of its own, nothing I had seen during the last few years of my mum's life came close. There is a cafe with doors that open onto a terrace with tables and chairs - that are gorgeous. Nothing about this place reminded me of a care home apart from the elderly residents who are treated so respectfully and not just left to sleep in a stuffy old lounge - as I had seen in so many other care homes. My only one regret is that we found this place too late for my mum to enjoy it.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a very heartfelt review.
Woodland Grove provides a caring, stimulating and homely environment for my 89 year old mother. Her well-being in all respects is expertly cared for. All the staff are friendly and show a genuine commitment to her, the atmosphere is upbeat and the physical environment is great. I feel that she is thriving within this wonderful community and cannot thank all involved with her care enough.
Thank you for your review. We will ensure your lovely review is shared with all those involved in Mum's care.
Mum has lived at Woodland Grove for 6-months now and she is very happy there. I am writing this review after a really lovely visit yesterday and in praise of the excellent activities team. When I arrived two of the teams ran over to tell me they had had a morning trip out with mum and two other residents in the sunshine. Their own enjoyment of the trip was evidently genuine which I found delightful. Mum had clearly loved it too. We popped down to the bistro for a coffee and chat about it and the activities team were decorating it for a Brazilian party. The whole afternoon was joyful. One member of staff led the dancing in killer heels! The girls were engaging all the residents in dancing and moving along with the music. Mum was in her element. The atmosphere was warm and inclusive. Carers and receptionists all kept popping in and joining in. I left feeling so happy that mum lives there and has these caring, happy people as part of her new family.
Thank you for your review. Our extensive activities programme led by our lifestyle team is a very important part of daily life at Woodland Grove.
My mother moved to Woodland Grove in December 2021, my siblings and I were reluctant to place Mum, who has Alzheimer's, in the care of strangers but, not feeling like we had a choice, we researched and visited as many as possible yet was determined to find a location walking distance from family members and we did. Fortunately, we also decided on Woodland Grove because of its warmth, competent staff, lovely clean rooms and gorgeous outside space etc, their caring personality and willingness to help further when possible. They truly are a caring organisation and Mum is making friends and no longer complains about feeling lonely so another bonus. We can and do visit any time and are really happy about the flexibility because we work full time and are not always able to visit during the day. We made a good choice. Our five-star rating is based on what we observe and experience when we visit, also on what we hear.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your review and the experience you have had with us during your visits.
All in all, she feels she got value for money, she had her hair done and a visit from the chiropodist at no extra charge.
Mum has now returned home with her batteries recharged and back to full independence!
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review following your stay. We wish your mum continued strength day by day. I will ensure your comments are communicated to the floor.

Meet the Team (4)

I am a qualified Biomedical Scientist and specialised in Blood Transfusion. I worked for the NHS before I decided to join the Health and Social Care sector in 2012. My first role was at a small residential care setting for the elderly. I joined as a Deputy Manager and progressed to a Registered Manager role. Since then, I have been in various management roles within the sector.
I joined Oakland Care in 2020 as a Unit Manager. I then progressed to the Head of Memory and Residential Care Role before moving into the Deputy Manager Role and now General Manager. I have a passion for providing exceptional care and developing a team that goes above and beyond in the care they provide.

I have an academic background in Literature and Journalism. However, driven by the desire to be part of a meaningful change, in 2019, I decided to transition into the Social and Healthcare sector. This is when I joined Oakland Care as a Healthcare Assistant, and I have since advanced through various roles, progressively working my way up to my current position as Deputy Manager. My journey has given me a deep understanding of both the personal and professional aspects of care. As a Deputy Manager, I aim to ensure that our residents receive exceptional care and that my team is led with inspiration, compassion, and integrity. I recently earned a qualification in therapeutic counselling and am interested in all things philosophy and psychology.

I have supported Care Homes for over 9 years and previously worked in Leisure and HR. My role is to effectively manage the occupancy levels of both Lambwood Heights and Woodland Grove care homes and build positive relationships with residents, families and external contacts in the community.
I work closely with the marketing department and our lifestyles teams to ensure our services are promoted to reflect the excellent care and support we provide. The residents are our extended family who we love to nurture and share daily life with whilst keeping them safe and well. I’m always delighted to meet new families and support their journey.

Before starting at Woodland Grove, my previous role was event coordinator in a museum and I have always worked in a creative industry. I helped to create big events such as private view and private parties.
I have a passion for creating creative and inclusive opportunities for diverse groups and making them explore different art and crafts.I really enjoy also sports activities like keep fit and name the tune where we explore different music and create a great atmosphere.
