Resident at Clarendon Hall Care Home celebrates 100th birthday

Mrs Elizabeth Clegg, a resident at HC-One’s Clarendon Hall Care Home in North East Lincolnshire celebrated her 100th birthday with her family, friends and fellow residents.

Betty, as she likes to be known, was born on a farm overlooking Prestatyn (North Wales) on 9th June 1917. When she was not at school she would be helping on the farm. She left school when she was 14 years old, from then she worked full time. Betty was known as being mischievous and would often be seen riding around the farm on the back of a large pig!!

In 1987 Betty and her daughter moved to Holton-le-Clay and in 1988 she moved to Cleethorpes. She moved to Clarendon Hall in 2015 and has been an active member of the home since, joining in with the daily activities in the home.

To mark the special day, Clarendon Hall put on a party for Betty which was attended by family, friends, members of the care team, and fellow residents.

The Chef made Betty’s favourite lemon drizzle cake which was decorated like a normal birthday cake, with a glittery wand with Betty’s picture inside, a Tiara and her 100th birthday candle.

Betty received a card from the Queen, this made her day.
