Residents, relatives and staff at Beaumont Hall care home in Leicester have praised Manager, Kerri Simpson, after the home received a ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (‘CQC’) during a recent inspection. Positive changes implemented by Kerri in the past year have led the home to be rated as ‘Good’ in each key area of care: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.

CQC Inspectors made the unannounced visits to Beaumont Hall residential and dementia care home in Beaumont Leys on 11 and 13 June. They found considerable improvements had been made and were showered with compliments about Kerri and the care provided at the home. One resident said, “[Registered manager] is lovely; she’s always in and out of here [lounge] and makes time to talk to me” and a staff member commented, “[Registered manager] is approachable, willing to listen to what we [staff team] say and wants to be involved to make things better for our residents. I love coming to work now.”

Kerri joined Beaumont Hall, which is operated by Ideal Carehomes, in May 2017 when the home was rated as ‘Requires Improvement’ and has made notable differences to benefit both residents and staff. She said, “Over the past 15 months, staff have really engaged in the positive changes that were required to turn the home around. We all support each other to put our residents at the heart of our home and provide the best possible care. Beaumont Hall is a happy place to live and work and we will continue to go from strength to strength building on what we have already achieved with an aim of becoming ‘Outstanding’.”

The report was complimentary about all areas of care, stating that there is a warm and friendly atmosphere around the home and that people are safe, happy and relaxed. Residents told Inspectors that they are treated with kindness, respect and compassion and most importantly that they had developed positive and trusting relationships with staff and were fully involved in decisions made about their care. Key to this has been the implementation of the latest care plan technology in the home. One resident said, “I made the decision to move here. I told [registered manager] what [care and support] I wanted. I felt very much in control and involved in my care.” The overarching theme of the report is that residents are enjoying being part of the Beaumont Hall family and staff are working together well as a team under the leadership of the Home Manager. Kerri continued, “This has only been possible with the full support of the staff, our residents, relatives and friends, our excellent team work and shared vision for personalised care and making a real difference. I am so proud of everyone and am organising a big party to celebrate!”.

Glenda Barratt, whose father has lived at Beaumont Hall for four years, continued with the praise for Kerri: “An excellent manger leading an excellent team. The inspection report makes very satisfying reading and to go from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ in just one year is a magnificent achievement. I am so pleased that Kerri and her team are caring for my father.”
