Bupa Highgate Care Home on Hornsley Lane, Highgate, has received a ‘good’ overall rating, grading well in all five categories judged by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an unannounced inspection.
Under the CQC’s programme of inspections, all adult social care services are given a quality rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.
Residents gave positive feedback on the care and support received from staff. One said: “The care is wonderful. They look after you well with caring, washing and food. I feel respected. They always knock on the door.” Another resident said: “I am happy here. I can relax and 'drop my shoulders'. I leave my door open all the time and if I have a problem someone will hear and sort it out.”
When asked about activities at the home and staff responsiveness, one resident said: “I get a visit from a dog every few weeks and I like that.” Another resident told inspectors that they enjoy participating in the arts and craft sessions which take place every week, helping to improve skills. Highgate Care Home General Manager, Carol Quinn, who has been employed at the home for over 25years, said:
“We are delighted with the outcome of the CQC report and the positive feedback that it included. Having grown with the home for over 25years, it’s great to see how much Highgate has developed and see the team’s hard work pay off.
“Many residents living at the home have limited verbal communication due to the nature of their disabilities, so it’s fantastic to know how happy resident’s families are with the care on their relative’s behalf.”
Carol Quinn started at Highgate as a Registered Nurse before becoming a Deputy Home Manager, then receiving her title as Home Manager.
Bupa Highgate Care Home provides nursing and personal care to a range of needs including brain injury, significant physical and sensory impairment, and progressive disabling conditions.
