Dene Place Bupa Care Home Receives ‘Good’ CQC Rating

Dene Place Bupa Care Home on Ripley Lane, West Horsley, has received a ‘good’ overall rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), grading high in all five categories for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led, following an unannounced inspection.

Residents gave positive feedback on the care and support received from staff. The CQC reported that “Staff showed patience, dignity, and respect and people responded well to staff.” One resident said: “Staff are so caring. Every morning I get a big hug and kiss, it makes me feel wonderful.”

Inspectors from the CQC also asked about the effectiveness of the home. Relatives and residents felt the staff were competent in their role, with one resident saying: “The carers are all so good.”

When asked about the range of activities on offer, one relative said: “The provision of activities here is excellent.” The CQC reported that staff gathered information about the resident’s interests and hobbies, and “people were supported to participate in activities that they enjoyed”.

Residents also commented on the safety of the home, with one telling the inspector on the day: “I do feel very safe." The CQC reported: “Staff had the knowledge and confidence to identify safeguarding concerns and acted on these to keep people safe.”

Dene Place Care Home was also given praise for its hospitality and food standards. The CQC reported that residents enjoyed the food and service, with one resident saying: "The food is lovely. The staff come around and ask you what you want for lunch. I make up my own menu."

Dene Place Care Home General Manager, Dilyana Sharkova, said: “We are delighted with the outcome of the CQC report and the positive feedback that it included. It’s so rewarding to hear how happy the residents are with our care as it’s like a small family here.”

Dene Place Bupa Care Home provides residential, nursing and dementia care for the elderly as well as nursing care for young people with physical disabilities.
