Camberley Manor part of TLC Group celebrated 74 years since Victory in Europe by having a big 1940’s themes street party style event.

In the morning the home was joined by Soldiers from the Deepcut Barracks who exchanged stories and experiences with the residents of their times in the services. The soldiers then joined the residents for a traditional British 1940’s style lunch served in the dining rooms. The Menu included Spam Fritters, Brown Betty and Jam sponge with custard which the soldiers said was an absolute treat. Then as part of the afternoon entertainment Ben and the Show Girls dazzled us with their performances of war time classics such as ‘Long way to Tipperary’, ‘Lambeth Walk’ and ‘White Cliffs of Dover’

The staff in the home also got on board with the theme of the day dressing up in 1940’s fashion. Theresa Well Being Lead said ‘It was so much fun getting involved in such an important Day. Resident Mary Hill said ‘The day was spectacular and we all had fun, but we also remembered those who served our country. They will never be forgotten’.
