New owners confirmed for trio of Hythe nursing homes

Three Hythe nursing homes - Saltwood Care Centre, Hythe View and Balgowan House - have been bought by an experienced care provider.

The three well-established homes, part of Hythe Care, provide 146 bedrooms in total, are all rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and offer high-quality nursing, dementia and respite care.

Former owners Tony Barnes and Phil Barker have run the homes for two decades and decided to sell ahead of their retirement.

“After nearly 20 years of running the care homes, Phil and I have decided the time is right to retire from the business,” said Tony.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our involvement with the homes and have taken great pleasure in working with some wonderfully devoted and caring staff.”

Julian Ball, CEO of new owners Integrum Care Group, said he is hugely impressed with the atmosphere at each of the homes.

“All three homes are tremendously well-managed, and the care staff are approachable and supportive,” said Julian.

“The quality of care is superb, which is reinforced by the CQC reports.”

Julian has over 30 years’ experience in care and has worked with some of the biggest names in the care sector, including Craegmoor (now owned by the Priory Group), the largest specialist independent health and social care provider in the UK. During his career, Julian has been involved in every aspect of care provision - from direct care as a care assistant to business strategy and development.

He added: “We were impressed with the managers at all three homes, they have incredibly high standards and are clearly passionate about the care of the elderly.

“It’s our plan to work closely with the managers and to continue the excellent work that’s already been done.”

The acquisition of the three Hythe nursing homes adds to Integrum Care Group’s growing portfolio.

The care group already owns Mulberry House Nursing Home in St Leonards-on-Sea which provides specialist residential and nursing care to adults of all ages.

Located on Tanners Hill, Saltwood Care Centre has 66 bedrooms. Hythe View is on North Road, overlooking the town of Hythe and Balgowan House is close to Saltwood Village Green. Both provide care for 40 residents.
