My dad has been in Saltwood Care Centre since June this year. He has Lewy Body Dementia. From the very start, the staff were welcoming & caring to both my dad & to his family, and we very much hope that he will be able to remain here when the local authority begins to fund his care. The building and
the grounds are attractive and well-kept, with a large conservatory & also a patio outside for residents and family to sit. Most importantly, there is a lovely atmosphere here with kind and dedicated staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. The activities team are brilliant; my dad is especially keen on the bands and singers that visit - music therapy for him, and I'm sure for many other residents, is so important and you can see how much everyone enjoys the activities. The management offer an open-door policy, so useful to family members, and they are open to discussion and suggestions and keen to resolve any problem. Close to my dad's heart, the food is tasty and varied!

My mum moved to Betsy Clara in May 2025 as the previous care home she was in could no longer meet her needs. Our first impression on arriving was what a lovely, bright and friendly place it was. Since she has been at Betsy Clara she appears to have settled in nicely and remarkably seems calmer. I'm
sure this is down to the wonderful caring staff and the happy atmosphere of the home. Mums room is lovely, bright and tidy and mum herself always looks clean with her hair nicely done. She is eating a lot better too which is great! Although mum hasn't been there long, we as a family know she is getting the best care possible. A big, big thank you to all the staff at Betsy Clara. You are all angels!

My mum has been here a year now and I have nothing but praise. The staff are lovely and they must be happy working there as they mostly seem to have been there a long time. The home is spotless and has lots of light and an airy feel. It's a great location, there's parking right outside so I can easily
take my mum out for a trip to Hythe.

Mum was transfered to Betsy Clara Nursing Home a few months ago due to a change in her needs. Since becoming a resident here there has been a notable improvement in her general health and well being. The previous care home she was in was clearly well below what could be considered to be of a decent
standard. In short, the staff, facilities and general atmosphere at Betsy Clara Nursing Home are incredible! Thank you to all the staff for your care, understanding and commitment in improving mum's quality of life.

Balgowan really do know how to care for the residents. A beautiful clean home with plenty of natural light and a very warm welcome always. Mum is comfortable and content in her surroundings which is the absolute bonus.
It's is a very busy home, but there is always a way to speak to someone if you
have questions.
The staff are supremely compassionate and take great care of residents and families.
This is my second time to place a loved family member into Balgowan's care, which hopefully speaks volumes. I don't know anywhere else I would trust to obtain the care at the levels we get here.
They welcome feedback no matter what, which is a measure of the constant striving to be the best there is, and I know they are.

My Mother has now lived at Hythe View for over a year. She has settled well and tells me she feels safe and well looked after. For its high standard of care, good leadership, the attentiveness of the staff, the way they treat all residents with compassion and dignity, this is a Nursing Home that exemplifies
all that is best practice. I cannot recommend it highly enough and I'm a retired former nurse.

My mother has been in respite care at Southdowns since April 2025, and we're so grateful for the care she's received. It was incredibly difficult seeing her need 24-hour support, and when she first arrived, her health and mental state were quite poor. Since then, we've seen a huge improvement in both
her physical and emotional wellbeing. The staff have been consistently kind, attentive, and accommodating of her individual needs, including her food preferences and personal routines like wake-up and bedtimes. Their thoughtful approach has made a real difference. We especially want to thank the manager, whose compassion and support towards my sister and me during such a hard time has meant more than words can say. It's never easy to trust others with a loved one's care, but Southdowns has provided comfort, dignity, and genuine kindness when we needed it most.
