Saltwood Care Centre is located on Tanners Hill, Hythe just a short walk from the shops and facilities of the High Street.

Recent extensions and refurbishments to the building, the latest completed in 2016, have created a delightfully spacious and airy environment in which to live, whether that be on a short or long-term basis.

The staff team are passionate about the caring service provided and are committed to providing the very best care for all of their residents.

All meals are nutritionally balanced and freshly prepared by the chef and the team using local ingredients wherever possible with varied menu choices available daily.

Saltwood Care Centre enjoys wonderful sea views and is set within beautiful grounds with patio areas that are accessible for residents to enjoy.

Saltwood Care Centre offers single occupancy accommodation in spacious and well-appointed rooms, the majority enjoying en-suite facilities or wet rooms.

Excellent staff and comfortable surroundings mum is 102 years of age and the care home has plenty of room for moving around to the dining room and spacious patio/lounge. Food is very varied and can be cooked to mum's needs. Menu service for the next day's needs.

This Care Home provides for the daily needs of the Resident from whom I hold Power of Attorney. The staff are friendly, the management team is accessible, proactive and responsive and visitors are made welcome.

We have been very impressed with the level of care my mother-in-law has received since she arrived in January. The staff are caring and very approachable. They always go out of their way in delivering personalised care. My mother-in-law speaks highly of the standard and variety of the meals offered
and thoroughly enjoys the homemade cakes and biscuits offered at tea and coffee times. The activities offered are very much enjoyed too!

Husband has been in Saltwood Care Centre 3 months. The management team and staff have been amazing with great support and care to him and myself and family. The care home is amazing, my husband has been at Saltwood Care Centre for over 2 yrs. Nothing is too much trouble, they are sensitive to my needs as well as my husband's. Management are always available to talk to. Food is wonderful can't praise it enough.

My father has been at Saltwood for over 2 years and feel that it was the right choice for him. The staff are wonderful, very professional, caring and helpful right through the whole team. He recently had his 99th birthday and the staff went above and beyond anything I could have expected. Dad is a Pearly
King and they arranged for some Pearly Kings and Queens to come to Saltwood for a surprise birthday party for him. He was overwhelmed when he saw them as he never thought he would see them again. He had the best birthday we could possibly hope for and a wonderful memory. Can't thank them enough.

Nobody warns you and nothing prepares you for the time you have to look after your elderly parents and we never realised how emotionally and mentally exhausting it would be, but thankfully we had Saltwood Care Centre and it's staff to support us, and care for them.
They looked after my Father and Mother
over the last two years.
They have both now passed and as upsetting as it is losing them, it is nice to know that they spent their remaining time in a caring and comfortable environment.
We can never thank the staff at Saltwood Care Centre enough. There's to many to mention but special thanks to the Management team, who's support and professionalism throughout the time our parents were with them, we will never forget and be forever grateful.

Today 20/01/2025 there was a general meeting it was great. So much thought for the residents social aspect discussed, thank you.
My husband has been cared for so well that he is at an healthier place than I've seen him for over 2 years. I must thank everyone so for always making me feel part of Saltwood

The care and support given to my Aunt is exemplary. The team are vigilant with her health issues to ensure she is comfortable and can live her best life. The managers and staff could not do more for her, they definitely treat her as one of their own family. I am always made feel welcome and supported
when visiting and confident that I can raise any queries anytime. Most important to me is that my Aunt is happy, she enjoys living at Saltwood Care Centre and feels safe and loved.

Saltwood Care Centre has some peculiarities with water bugs! In the water supply, in the bedding that we sleep in. In the laundry that is returned washed and ironed, clean and ready to wear. Need to sort out the bugs.

I have lived here since I came out of the hospital. Rooms have a nice view of the gardens. The meals are very good and plentiful. The home staff and management are providing a pretty for me and 18 of my relatives for my 80th birthday on 26/10/2024.

There have been occasional lapses in care. When I came I found that he had previously opened his bowels but his bottom had not been cleaned. He has complained to me that one or two carers have not treated him with respect and have been rude. Whether this is because they find it difficult to understand
his speech and become impatient I don't know but generally the carers are kind, helpful, patient and understanding.

My Mum was originally booked in for Respite Care, as although nearly 102 and been totally independent all her life, she had suddenly lost her strength and needed care. I had a holiday booked with my grandchildren, so we agreed she would have her own holiday in Saltwood Care Centre. The Admin Team could
not have been more helpful in coming to assess her needs and booking her in. It became clear that this was not going to be respite so she moved in 4 days earlier and received exceptionally good care.
I was able to go away for 4 days, safe in the knowledge that she could not have been in better hands. Sadly on my second night, she passed away peacefully. I was kept informed of her sudden decline and then of her passing. Again, everything was seamless which helped me incredibly at a difficult time.
I cannot praise Saltwood more and highly recommend their facilities and teams.

My husband found staff pleasant and helpful.
For him, the accommodation was adequate for his needs. My daughter, son and I also found staff kind when we visited.
The only thing to criticise was the dirty-looking carpet.

Both my mother and my father spent their final years at Saltwood and I could not be more happy with the care they received both nursing and housekeeping.
The staff are consistently friendly and helpful - they genuinely seem to like what they're doing and the people they're caring for. My mother was
showing signs of dementia when she entered Saltwood. As her condition deteriorated, and she was eventually confined to bed, the Saltwood staff continued to take the greatest care of her, making sure she was as comfortable as her circumstances would allow.
My father survived her by another two years, although with increasingly failing health. Again, the Saltwood staff took great care of him. They did what they could to help him maintain his mobility. When he was no longer able to move, they made sure he stayed clean and comfortable.
On the very few occasions when we did need something done, we only had to ask and the management team took care of it.

Hi, My name is Sophie and I am the Registered Manager here at Saltwood Care Centre.


I have worked in the healthcare sector since 2008, I have worked in various different roles and developed my skills along my journey. I have worked for both private and public health providers.


I worked previously as a home manager and have supported a range of needs throughout my career including specialist Dementia and nursing care. I have gained qualifications such as my NVQ 5 in management & leadership.


I am passionate about delivering a high standard of care and making a difference in people's lives. For any person, family member or loved one, choosing a care home can be understandably difficult and I aim to make the transition as smooth as possible with care and understanding to all involved.


Sophie leads her team by example – being open, honest, and passionate about providing the best person-centred care for all residents. Sophie takes pride in her work, always giving her best and ensuring that Saltwood Care Centre is a special place for residents, their families, and the team at Saltwood.

My name is Maria Theresa Guerzon. My family and friends call me Terri but Maria at work. I have been working in the UK care industry for almost 21 years.


I completed my degree in Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Philippine Universities. I started working in England as a Senior Health Care Assistant, passed my Nursing adaptation and registered as a nurse in 2006. I completed my nursing adaptation at Philbeach Care Centre, which is now called Saltwood Care Centre. I studied further At Christ Church University and completed Leadership courses.?


I worked in different care settings as a nurse, agency nurse, clinical lead and Deputy Manager. This enabled me to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience and provided me with the tools to ensure that residents receive the very best care.? I love music. For me, music itself is healing. Sometimes patients call me “the singing nurse.” ?I am honoured to be part of the Integrum Care Group and to work alongside a great team at Saltwood Care Centre.

Job Title: Relations Experience Manager

I Joined SCC as a receptionist in Nov 2020, in the middle of the Covid lockdown, previously working in guest services.


Both my husband and sister work within the company and I was very aware of the effect covid was having within the care home industry and really wanted to help. My intention was to return to my old job but here I am over 3 years later and now a resident experience manager.


I have always had a great relationship with our resident's families and now I get to spend time with the residents too. I look after the domestic team, catering and reception. I also support The Home Manager, Sophie as much as possible. Sophie and I work very well together and enjoy a fantastic working relationship. Saltwood has a great team, and I am very proud of them daily.

My name is Linda Writer, I am originally from Ivory Coast in West Africa.


I have been working as a receptionist for Saltwood Care Centre since the 1st of June 2023.

Hayley McLachlan

Job Title: Administrator

Hayley joined Saltwood Care Centre in March 2023 as the Home Administrator.


Her role is a key function to support the Home Manager and all members of staff which she does by managing the home administration efficiently. Amongst many duties, Hayley’s role incorporates overseeing staffing, rotas, recruitment and the onboarding of new members of staff.


Before joining Saltwood, Hayley worked in Care for 3 years. This is where she gained a good understanding of the care industry and where she found her passion for helping people by ensuring they receive a high level of care and support.


With over 25 years of previous experience as a Sales Manager for a large Insurance & Holiday company, an Office Manager for a manufacturing company and a Receptionist for a Doctors Surgery, Hayley offers a wealth of experience to Saltwood with knowledge in sales, quality assurance, project management, risk assessment, customer services and all forms of staff management.
