An advent calendar full of exciting surprises

Residents of Woodbury House Care Home created a beautiful hand-stitched advent calendar.

Here at Woodbury House, we all love Christmas and we’re getting very excited for the big day, so the countdown has begun!

We’re counting down the days in a very special way as we have an advent calendar full of activities! Our residents hand-stitched 24 bags and our team added a surprise activity to them. It was very exciting as none of our residents knew what to expect!

Resident Sylvia said: "I had a great time sewing the bag, but nobody wanted to tell me what would be inside. What are these secrets?"

Resident Ron said: "Our calendar looks very good and it fits in with the festive mood."

We stitched the bags up and hung them with some baubles from our fireplace. Not only is our advent calendar great fun, but it looks fantastic too!

Deputy Manager, Charli said: "I love Christmas and I am excited about our new advent calendar, maybe even more than our residents! I can't wait for our residents to open the last bag."

Magic Moments Club Coordinator, Anna said: "We have 24 different Christmas and winter activities. We have a mixture of small and big activities, for instance, some you can do in 5 minutes and the others may take 5 hours. When picking the activities, we made sure there was something for everyone. I am excited about our residents' reaction to these activities because none of them know what to expect. We'll let you in on a secret, some of our activities include a snow fight, Christmas photo booth where we will take millions of beautiful photos and baking gingerbread. This is just the tip of the mountain of the advent activities."
