Denise wins ‘Making a real difference award’ at Westport Care Home

Denise is a Healthcare Assistant at Westport Care Home and was delighted this week when Home Manager, Denise, presented her with a Fortnum and Mason hamper for winning Apetito’s Making a Real Difference Award.

Apetito is a frozen meal supplier that works with Care Homes, Schools and various other sectors to provide great food crafted by chef’s and dietitians. They’re passionate about making a real difference to the organisations they work with, and so annually host a ‘Making a real difference award’ to congratulate those who make a positive impact to their place of work.

Team members send in nominations on behalf of their colleagues to the team at Apetito, who then judge the entries and select a winner.

Denise Marks, the Home Manager of Westport Care Home, sent in the below nomination on behalf of Denise.

“Denise joined us 2 years ago after losing her husband whom she cared for during his end of life. The difference that she has made our residents is just unbelievable. She is loved by the people that live here and respected by her colleagues. Denise is kind, compassionate and caring and people look forward to her being on duty and lead the activities that enhance their daily living and make it worthwhile to wake up each morning. Denise goes above and beyond in her work role and you will often find her on her days off shopping for the people that live at our home as she never seems to forget them and is so keen to enhance their lives. Denise is a true asset to our team.”

The judges were very impressed with the entry and could see the positive difference she makes to her colleagues and the people she cares for. This week, she was announced as the winner and was presented with a large Fortnum and Mason hamper at the home.

Her hard work and dedication has continued to impress Home Manager Denise, who said some kind words and presented her with the Hamper.
