'How much is that doggy in the window? the one with the waggley tail, how much is that doggy in the window? I do hope that dog is for sale.' That was the song that filled the bistro today, preparing for the dog show.
There was a fabulous attendance from relatives and community, all accompanied by their furry friends. The afternoon was spent in the Dame Alice lounge with residents, relatives, staff, community and with thirteen, very bouncy, excited dogs.
Residents voted on different categories for the dogs and had so much fun doing so, they interacted with the dogs and chatted with the owners. Winners were announced at the end, with prizes for them all. But there could only be one winner for each of the six categories.
The winners were: Bramble the black Labrador for Best trick, owned by relative Keith. Max the black Spaniel for waggiest tail, owned by staff member Aimee. Bonnie the dapple shiatsu for naughtiest dog, owned by relative Maxine. Clem the brown Patterdale Terrier for cutest dog, owned by Nicky the activities coordinator. Samantha the Golden Retriever for best behaved, owned by staff Raj, bought in by a friend. And last but certainly not least, Dexter the English Setter winning 'Best dog over all'.
Not forgetting the other beautiful dogs, Albert, Rosie, Bella, Boris, Eber, Dot and Connie, you all done fabulous and certainly didn't go home without a treat bag.
Thank you to everyone that participated and made the day special for the residents, they had a fabulous afternoon.
