Four Hills care home, in Glasgow, was full of animal mischief on this week when a couple of miniature Shetland ponies came to visit the home.
Residents at Four Hills were pleasantly surprised to see their new furry friends roaming around their sitting rooms and bedrooms as Therapeutic Ponies Scotland paid a visit.
General Manager Eleanor Wilson said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today. We knew that having the ponies here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus. We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”
Resident Margaret Kirk was very excited by the ponies visit: “It’s not every day you have a pony in your bedroom. Today was very enjoyable and it was wonderful that the animals were free to roam amongst us.”
Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
