National Maintenance Day recognises the value of maintenance in our lives. Our care home maintenance teams are integral to ensuring our residents are safe and comfortable. Their efforts are commendable and essential. We use this day to express our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
Rick Galloway, Regional Maintenance Manager, commented, “It’s a pleasure working with such an amazing maintenance team across all our homes. They work with such dedication, covering reactive and planned works to ensure our homes are safe and comfortable for our residents, visitors and staff.”
Did you know that maintenance is one of the most important things we can do to keep our world running smoothly? From our homes to our workplaces and beyond, maintenance plays a huge role in ensuring everything works as it should.
But what exactly is maintenance? It’s the process of taking care of things to keep them in good condition. For example, change the oil in your car regularly to keep the engine running smoothly, or clean your coffee maker to make sure it continues to make delicious coffee.
There are different types of maintenance, each with its purpose. Reactive or corrective maintenance is when something is fixed after it breaks down. Periodic maintenance is when we regularly do certain tasks, like changing filters. Predictive maintenance checks things to see if they need fixing before breaking them down. Proactive maintenance is when we make changes to prevent problems from happening in the first place. So why is maintenance so important?
Without it, things can break down more often and cost more money to fix in the long run. In some cases, not maintaining things can even be dangerous! That’s why there is a special day called Maintenance Day on January 18th each year, and we acknowledge and celebrate our teams.
So take some time to appreciate the importance of maintenance in your life. And remember, even small actions like cleaning or greasing can make a big difference!
