Bookshelves are bulging at South Chowdene Care home care home in Low Fell where book worm residents were keen to get involved in Read a Book Day.
Residents, family members and friends as well as staff got together at South Chowdene Care Home and had the privilege of meeting Susan Willis a very local author, and hearing about her books, how she starts writing each book and the inspirations for her books as well as how she has come to be selling them through Amazon!
Niki Powell the Activities Co-ordinator at the home commented: “Our residents all love to read and to discuss their favourite books so Read a Book Day is a fantastic opportunity for us all to spend the day with our noses in our favourite books. We absolutely loved meeting a real live author and hearing about the writing process!”
Kelly Angus Operational Manager at the home, said: “It has been a brilliant day and we have all enjoyed swapping our must-reads. Our residents love getting lost in a good book so they very much enjoyed reading excerpts from their favourite novels and discussing what they love them. There are so many wonderful books to discover, everyone enjoyed finding out about new titles to put on their reading lists.”
Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
