Community Garden Week: Rumbling Bridge get busy

Last Updated: 04 Apr 2025 @ 00:00 AM

The residents at Rumbling Bridge have been busy making use of their wonderful green space lately, which is fitting on Community Garden Week.

Activities Coordinator, Amie, gives us an update and tells us how their new ‘dwarf’ tree might turn into a giant!

“I recently entered a draw and won a plum tree! Originally I was going to put this so-called dwarf tree in my garden at home, but then decided that we could plant it at Rumbling Bridge, so we could have plums in the summer/autumn months. All great in theory! I went to pick up the tree, and it is way beyond dwarf and can actually grow to 16 feet!”

“We also have our greenhouse put up now and have flower plugs growing. Next week we are going to have an afternoon planting tomatoes, courgette and pea seeds. And some sunflowers.

“The weather has been magnificent here, so we have already been out playing parachute games, painted in the garden, we had a cake and coffee afternoon, and have made coconut bird feeders. We’ll be getting out as much as physically possible all the time the weather is good.”
