'Sew' much fun: felt toy crafting is a trip down Memory Lane

A sewing session sparked stories and smiles among residents at Camelot House and Lodge.

Organised as part of the home’s regular creative activities programme, the session was more than just a crafting exercise – it became a trip down Memory Lane.

“We had an afternoon of sewing where we made little felt toy animals, which was great for hand dexterity and which also got everyone talking,” said activities co-ordinator Harriet Burraston.

“There were some lovely stories from the residents about ‘make do and mend’, dressmaking, and on how sadly that sewing is becoming a lost art.

“Afterwards we had all these lovely handmade animals which some of the residents said they were going to gift to their grandchildren which was so sweet."
