care homes and Avalon was by far the most caring, we felt it from the moment we walked in. Angie the receptionist is always helpful. The staff were brilliant at reassuring us and settling dad in. Once settled he is happy there and gets well looked after, the food always looks good. It is always clean and comfortable. The staff are very patient and kind and the entertainments manager is working hard to get more activities going. Dad does lose his glasses at times but that's to be expected when he has dementia and as they're labelled they do find them. We were recommended Avalon by 2 families that have relatives living there and we feel that we made the right choice.

When you realise all your world is going to be turned upside down in an instant, knowing people care and treat not only the person in their care with respect and dignity, family and friends feel so welcome by all too. Dad is presenting with issues such as seperation because of his long term marriage, he's hallucinating due to medical reasons yet the team are tirelessly working hard to help support us, we are constantly updated on situations and given advice on how we can too.

When you have to make the decision that you need help with care for your loved ones, Camelot have been incredibly supportive in the transition from my husband being in hospital and ensuring his safety they support me and family members with visits and each member of staff are always friendly and caring

What can I say? There are not enough words to convey how grateful our family is to the staff at Avalon Care home. Every single person there played a part in looking after our Mother. The kind, caring, patient way she was looked after was amazing. The service, the facilities the extra way they provided was excellent. It did not matter at what time or day we visited we were greeted with smiles and a welcome. Even in our mothers dying days we were well cared for in a sympathic way

Our darling Mum passed away in June 2026 whilst in the loving care of Butterfly Lodge, her passing was made so much easier to bear by the love and support of everyone there, everyone and I mean everyone, the support and care shown by the amazing staff made this difficult journey with Alzheimer's bearable and you helped us so so much. We can never repay that support. I can't tell you how much that means to us all as a family. Butterfly have an incredible team that nurtured us all. It felt like you picked us up and carried us in your arms. We as a family thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will miss our Beautiful Mum forever but she is now at peace. Butterfly saved us from the worry and guilt that comes with a loved one with dementia and will be forever grateful for the love and care shown to our Mum

After looking after my wife who was suffering with Alzheimer's and mixed dementia for a number of years, then due to an infection for which she ended up in hospital it was decided that the only further course of care was to place her into a home. A decision that was not taken lightly. I visited a number of care homes in Plymouth with varying degrees of acceptability. I finally settled on the Butterfly Lodge which is a specialist Dementia nursing home. All I can say is that this is one of the best decisions I have ever made. From initially meeting the nursing home manager Clair who visited my wife at our home, to her first day as a resident and her final day on her passing, EVERYONE in that home showed her care, compassion and understanding even in difficult times. They looked after her every need and she participated when possible with far more activities than I could ever do at home. I absolutely recommend this home to anyone who is in the same position.

Onwards and upwards - with The Avalon!

Mum spent 20 months at Camelot Lodge. The staff were always caring and helpful and kept us fully informed, contacting us regularly and acting promptly with any issues. We felt Mum was well looked after and always treated with respect and dignity. The lovely staff were always welcoming and friendly and take the time to chat to both residents and visitors.

Butterfly lodge has been amazing for my mother. She has been so well supported and cared for. They have always found that extra little bit of time for her when she has needed it, and are always more than happy to go the extra mile. The staff always greet with a smile and are always very welcoming.

Both my mum & mother-in-law are now residents at Butterfly Lodge. The care they have received has been brilliant & they have both improved both physically and mentally since being there. My mum, although her memory is very limited nowadays, is happy which was not the case when she first moved there. I would recommend Butterfly Lodge 100% and can't give all the staff enough praise for all their hard work and care they give to the residents.

Dad moved to Deer Park in March following a short period of respite there. He has settled really well. The staff have all been very friendly and welcoming both to him and to us when we visit. They seem to really know the residents. Dad has received excellent care and really eats well - a great indication considering his appetite had been waning when he was at home. It is a lovely environment - Dad particularly likes the conservatory! Activities appear to be great. Shortly after Dad's arrival it was his 80th birthday. We had a small family party in one of the rooms at Deer Park and were provided with lovely food and a fantastic cake! Dad has a lovely, large, light room and seems to enjoy spending time there.

My experience was of a calm, pleasant workforce who were welcoming to me. Ians care was as good as its possible to be. Thanks were expressed whenever I could do so. I have no complaints about this home but wish there were more native English speaking staff - maybe in the future? Caring should be a profession.

My husband died in Camelot after a 4 1/2 year residency. I was always confident that he was safe and comfortable. I believe that he was comfortable in their care also. Mostly residents were treated with great kindness and respect which was important to me. They also treated me well on my visits and respected our privacy. I am very pleased that I chose Camelot for him in preference to 2 other local homes.

The home makes us feel like family. We can have a joke and be serious. Staff are always helpful.

Christine was looked after with compassion during the 4 months she resided at Deer Park. She had many medical needs during this time and they were dealt with competently. I was regularly contacted, particularly after she had some falls. During her final days we were kept up to date with her condition and she was kept as comfortable as possible during that time. Thanks to all staff for your care and compassion.

My first experience of a care home was not good but within hours of my husband being admitted to Camelot House and Lodge I was reassured. Camelot staff undertook the transfer and it was done wtih efficiency and kindness. Everyone who opened a door did so with a smile and a cheery hello, anyone I passed in a corridor did the same. There's a lovely big, bright lounge, doors to the garden. My husband's room was a good size. The food was a high standard, plenty of it. I was always offered drinks, food if I wanted it. My husband could be a challenge but the staff always treated him with patience, respect and good humour. In his final hours my daughter and I felt wrapped around with care and kindness, hugs when his life was over. Camelot Lodge is a lovely care home. We will always remember our time with them with affection.

Thank you for your compassion & professionalism. My mother's final two years were spent at Chestnut Lodge, where she was treated with gentle support & dignity. Her wishes were followed and as visiting relatives we were all welcomed as part of her new family. All the staff are exceptional, but the nurses had detailed knowledge of my mother's daily life, health, happiness & needs.

Camelot House is not the grandest or smartest care home, but it is comfortable and prices reflect this. Rooms are cosy, to residents tastes and it is always warm. The standout heroes are the staff, many of whom are longstanding. They demonstrate kindness, patience and professionalism, with good humour, in often difficult circumstances.
