Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My 99 year old Mum was the first resident to arrive at Deer Park when it recently reopened. As the only resident she was treated like royalty and as more and more residents arrive she continues to receive the same wonderful care and, when required, nursing. From the very beginning when Mum was being
considered for discharge from North Devon Hospital I was constantly contacting Sue, the manager at DP, to see if they were ready to take new residents. The responses were always prompt and very reassuring and thankfully we got a call to say that DP were ready to welcome her.
It's a worrying time for family but the whole team whether it be Sue or Nic (admin) or any of the nursing or care team have removed almost all of those concerns as we know she is safe, warm and extremely well cared for. One other aspect worthy of mention is the food. The quality and variety of meals offered is exceptional, it all just adds to the knowledge that my Mum couldn't be in a better place.
Reply from Suzanne Evans, Registered Manager at Deer Park Nursing HomeThank you so much, Chris, for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and generous review.

It was a true honour for us that your Mum was the very first resident to join us when Deer Park reopened under Camelot Care , and she will always hold a very special place in the home. She is such a lovely lady and a delight to care for.

We understand it's a worrying time and so it really means a lot to us to know that the team has helped put your mind at ease. Your kind words will be shared with them all - they will be very proud.

We are also delighted that you have been pleased with the quality of care and meals your Mum receives - I shall pass it on to the kitchen!. Knowing that she feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for is our greatest priority.

Thank you again for your trust and for your lovely feedback.

Warmest regards,
Sue

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.525)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.525) out of 10 for Deer Park Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Deer Park Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.525 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deer Park Nursing Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 5 = 0.4
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2024

I have worked in the care sector since 2003, and as a registered manager of care homes since 2007.

After an early career in human resources, I wanted to pursue a more meaningful career path, so I studied for a degree in social science with psychology. On graduation, I worked first in the care sector supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism and then in nursing care or homes for older adults.

Having grown up with a close relationship with my grandparents, I’ve always felt a natural affinity with the older generation. Additionally, my mother-in-law’s dementia journey inspired me to enable excellent care and the ability to live life with dementia to the fullest.

I value the privilege of being part of people’s journey at a time when they are most in need, and take pride in working alongside the committed team at Deer Park Nursing Home, who are so sincerely compassionate and dedicated in their roles.
