Avalon Nursing Home is a purpose built home situated in the heart of Bridgwater.

Avalon’s interior incorporates the latest technologies in nursing and health care systems and leading ideas in dementia care design. All rooms are en-suite, finished to the highest specifications where flat screen televisions come as standard.

All of Avalon’s rooms and a number of lounges overlook external gardens enabling easy access to outdoors at all times. Private living areas are complimented by an open plan living area in the centre of the home where residents can relax and enjoy a cup of tea with the friendly team. A number of rooms have their own private terrace, while the Sedgemoor dining room leads on the Avalon courtyard and gardens making for enjoyable Al Fresco dining in good weather.

A hair salon, cinema room and a varied plan of daily activities and events mean residents will always have something to do. Avalon’s central location also allows residents and their relatives the added convenience of having all the attractions of bustling Bridgwater on their doorstep.

Would really highly recommend this home. My family friend has been at Avalon since April the care and support she has been receiving is second to none. It's home from home the whole staff and management have been amazing so kind welcoming. The activities are great they make sure they know the person
and what they enjoyed doing and what they did at home and make sure the activities are for everyone. Can't thank Avalon enough lovely care home definitely the best home locally.

It was a hard decision to commit my dear mum's care to a nursing home but I couldn't have chosen better. The comfort and support that both she and my family have received from both management and staff has been superb.
The surroundings are bright and cheerful and visitors are always made so welcome.
Mum is so well cared for and the standard of food and activities is second to none. The staff are all so patient and kind - the atmosphere is just so warm and friendly. I now have peace of mind and no longer worry about her having a fall or forgetting her medication.
Well done Avalon for providing such a lovely caring place.

My mum was admitted in April 2024 with advanced Alzheimer's. The care she receives at Avalon Nursing Home is exemplary and far beyond our expectations. There is genuine love and affection for all residents and a determination to ensure that they are treated as individuals at all times and respected
as such. I can't recommend Avalon highly enough and the staff team are just amazing.

We cannot speak highly enough of the team at Avalon Nursing Home, from the management to the cleaning staff. For what is an extremely difficult time for our family, their care and kindness towards my mum and dad is outstanding. The home is always a happy place with lots going on for everyone.

My mum was in this home for a very short period of time before she passed away. All the staff went above and beyond to make my mum's last few days comfortable and contented. Even after my mum passed the support I am receiving from the management staff is absolutely unbelievable. Such kindhearted caring
people without a doubt the best care home in its area.

My mum was a resident here until she died on the 3rd of April. All I can say is that every single one of the staff is incredible. They are so caring, happy and amazing. They not only looked after my mum well, they looked after me and my family well. Each resident is treated as an individual in one big
happy family. I couldn't have got anywhere better to care for my mum. My thanks go out to every single member of staff, not just care staff but the ladies on reception and cooks, cleaners and the ladies that do the washing. Thank you, you're all brilliant.

I can't thank Avalon enough for the care they are giving my mother-in-law. She has advanced Alzheimer's and is quite a handful in many ways. All of the staff are kind, thoughtful and patient with her. She can't communicate her needs or understand either but everything necessary for her daily care is
done with a smile. As relatives we feel totally at ease leaving her in Avalon's care and are always kept informed of everything that happens with her. The carers go above and beyond to make her happy even taking her out in a wheelchair for a change of scenery. Thank you Avalon for giving us peace of mind.

My husband, unfortunately, only spent nine weeks at Avalon Nursing Home before he passed away unexpectedly in July. I cannot praise the staff at Avalon highly enough for the care and love they showed to him, to me and to my family. Nothing was too much for them. It meant those last nine weeks I was
able to spend quality time with him as his wife and not his carer. These carers do not get enough praise for the fantastic service they give.

We moved my mother to Avalon as her care needs were increasing. The managers and staff were excellent throughout from assessing her needs prior to entry through to supporting her passing with care and dignity.
Toward the end Mum's behaviour became very challenging and this was mitigated by the trusted
relationships that her carers had built with her.
When first arriving at Avalon it was evident that the building and location were less attractive than the many other care homes we visited. However, from the point at which when we entered the building, we witnessed the genuine care and attention provided to patients and, as proved correct, it was a great choice for Mum.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Avalon Care Home.

My partner has been at Avalon for two months. During this time, the staff have shown nothing but love and support for her, The food is good, her room is adequate and kept clean.
The activities regime is great with a lot of thought going into keeping everybody happy.

My husband was welcomed warmly and lots of staff introduced themselves to us explaining their roles. My husband's needs were quickly assessed and he was asked about his likes and dislikes relating to food activities and interests. Carers are kind and helpful. The nurses really know their stuff and the
Admin staff are very efficient and a key point of contact for getting 'Housekeeping' issues sorted out. I am happy that my husband is in safe hands and will be properly cared for.

My name is Lisa
I have worked in the care sector for 13 years.
I started my journey as an HCA in various care homes. I then progressed over to the activities team, using my creative skills from theatre dramatics. I have also had hospital experience Facilitating activities working with various teams such as Occupational and physiotherapists.
I always like to use a holistic and person-centred approach which I think led me to become a “wellbeing coordinator”


Combining enhanced care and activities, with the community and family connections in mind, as well as improving diet and exercise.


My favourite activities to provide are cooking sessions and movement to music. I also love pet therapy sessions.
I love working with people and I love using my skills to make a difference. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
