My experience was of a calm, pleasant workforce who were welcoming to me. Ians care was as good as its possible to be. Thanks were expressed whenever I could do so. I have no complaints about this home but wish there were more native English speaking staff - maybe in the future? Caring should be a profession.

Reply from James Marchant, Operations Manager at Camelot House and Lodge

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review, it is much appreciated. Our colleagues from other countries are a very valued part of the team and have a good standard of English, and undertake training and receive the same support as everyone else. We do make every effort to recruit locally and, in common with other providers, this can be challenging.

My husband died in Camelot after a 4 1/2 year residency. I was always confident that he was safe and comfortable. I believe that he was comfortable in their care also. Mostly residents were treated with great kindness and respect which was important to me. They also treated me well on my visits and respected our privacy. I am very pleased that I chose Camelot for him in preference to 2 other local homes.

Reply from James Marchant, Operations Manager at Camelot House and Lodge

Thankyou for writing a review and your kind words. I will ensure that this is passed onto the team. It means a lot to us that you felt your husband was comfortable at the home and that you were treated kindly when you visited.

My first experience of a care home was not good but within hours of my husband being admitted to Camelot House and Lodge I was reassured. Camelot staff undertook the transfer and it was done wtih efficiency and kindness. Everyone who opened a door did so with a smile and a cheery hello, anyone I passed in a corridor did the same. There's a lovely big, bright lounge, doors to the garden. My husband's room was a good size. The food was a high standard, plenty of it. I was always offered drinks, food if I wanted it. My husband could be a challenge but the staff always treated him with patience, respect and good humour. In his final hours my daughter and I felt wrapped around with care and kindness, hugs when his life was over. Camelot Lodge is a lovely care home. We will always remember our time with them with affection.

Camelot House is not the grandest or smartest care home, but it is comfortable and prices reflect this. Rooms are cosy, to residents tastes and it is always warm. The standout heroes are the staff, many of whom are longstanding. They demonstrate kindness, patience and professionalism, with good humour, in often difficult circumstances.

Mum was at Camelot House for 6 years and I cannot speak highly enough of the home. The care she received in that time was excellent. All the staff are very caring and kind. When visiting I was always greeted with a smile and hello from all the staff. We were kept informed of changes and concerns.
Mum passed away in November 2025, she was treated with dignity and respect. The care and kindness received by not only mum also my sisters and myself in her last few days was above and beyond. Thank you to all the staff.

I would recommend Camelot House and Lodge to anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones.

My husband was just one month in this care home, he had the most wonderful care team looking after him. When myself and family visited the home, we were met with a welcoming smile. My husband was coming to end of life care, and he was treated with respect, and dignity. We as a family will never forget Camelot House and Lodge at Chelston Wellington, for all their kindness, care and compassion, thank you so much.

My darling wife has suffered with steady decline as the dementia took hold over 7 years but in January of this year I watched my wife fall 4times in 3 days as well as developing double incontinence ! I looked for help quickly and by sheer chance we ended up at this lovely place. I cannot speak more highly of this place, the care they have given my wife being kind, interested in her previous abilities so as to organise something to assist, as well as the care of the nurses & carers took a great weight off my mind. I come everyday for the morning from 7 to 12 and I have seen more than most partners probably would normally see and I must stress that this gives me great comfort . I can only be very thankful to them all including the wonderful domestic staff who are forever watchful and assisting and the chefs and helpers who turn out very healthy food as well as good looking quality meals.

My Aunt has been at the home for over a year and the care she has received has been excellent. She was struggling to cope at home and as I do not live near her, I couldn't help on a regular basis. When I first visited her she appeared the most relaxed I have seen her for several years. The staff are tremendous and treat her like a family member.
She tells me the food is good and all the meals I've seen looked really tasty.
I worried she might get bored but the entertainers work hard. I never thought I would see her dancing as part of a Silent Disco!

A big thank you to all the staff, especially to the management team who answer my long distance concerns.

Reply from Zillah Oakes, Registered Manager at Camelot House and Lodge

Thank you for your lovely review. At Camelot we believe that we are one big family and we are happy that your aunt is part of it. I must agree that our chef does a great job, personally I am a fan of the midweek roast. The silent disco is a firm favourite of the residents. It will be my pleasure to pass you thanks on to the team.

I am very pleased by the attention that all the staff at this care home give my wife. The nurses are very attentive and she enjoys chatting with them. She has her favourites amongst the care staff but they all take the time to chat with her. The same goes for the activity assistants and cleaners. She is very restricted physically as what she can do but she seems to enjoy her days which is all I can ask for. Being a vegetarian she was worried that the variety of food she would be offered would be limited but they have met her requirements very successfully. Overall she is well looked after and happy.

It gives me great pleasure to write a glowing review of the care mum has received at Camelot. All staff were, kind, helpful, engaged and friendly. Not just mum, but from what I observed every resident (and many of them had more issues that just dementia) was treated with dignity understanding and humour. Contact with and from the home was good too. Thank you.

My father in law spent just under three years at the Camelot House and Lodge after entering for respite care. Not having spent any time within a care home, and my wife struggling to accept the situation we now found ourselves in, our minds were soon put at ease with the level of care and compassion the team at Camelot provide. From the beginning to the end, almost three years later, the level didn't drop and we were kept up to date with any changes or situations on an immediate basis. The space, environment and activities suited our family member during his residency and nothing was too much trouble. We were able to take him out for short periods, they would offer to accompany or even bring him to family events. The professionalism that was displayed and delivered through the entire period, will not be forgotten. We'll continue to try and support Camelot, where we can, for as long as we can, out of respect for way they looked after us and our family members.
