Residents at a care home in Southampton have been visited by local school children for Intergenerational Week.
The children from Paint Pots Nursery School and the residents at Anchor’s Mayflower Court Care Home on Westwood Road exchanged stories of growing up in different eras.
Mayflower Court resident Bev, 70, said: “Oh I love having the small children here! They are so nice and always make me smile. It reminds me of when my children were young.” Sharron Fitzgerald, Home Manager at Mayflower Court, said: “It was really heartwarming to see two generations hanging out and having a great time together. You could totally see the residents light up as they started reminiscing about their childhoods. Intergenerational Week is always a highlight for us, we genuinely look forward to it every year. We're hoping to plan more visits like this one soon!”
Global Intergenerational Week runs from 24 to 30 April 2025 and seeks to highlight the amazing outcomes that are achieved when people of all ages come together, helping to make the world a better place for everyone, regardless of age.
