Burford House Care Home has launched a monthly Cinema Club, inviting local members of the ChristChurch Community to join for an afternoon of film, conversation, and connection. The initiative is part of the home’s ongoing commitment to strengthening ties with the local community and enriching the lives of others through shared experiences.
The Cinema Club, held on the last Thursday of each month, provides a welcoming space for ChristChurch community members to come together and enjoy a film in the home’s dedicated cinema. With popcorn, refreshments, and a thoughtfully chosen movie, the event offers more than just entertainment. From timeless classics to heartwarming dramas, each screening ends with an informal discussion, where attendees share memories, reflections, and plenty of laughter.
“We’re thrilled to welcome friends from ChristChurch into our home each month,” Birinder Dale, Activities at Burford House. “It’s more than just watching a film — it’s about fostering friendships, sparking meaningful conversation, and building a sense of belonging between generations.”
The relationship between Burford House and the ChristChurch Community has grown steadily through shared events, pastoral visits, and intergenerational projects. The new Cinema Club adds another layer to this connection, offering a consistent, enjoyable way to come together.
Members of ChristChurch have also praised the initiative for its warmth and inclusivity. “Spending time with the residents at Burford House is a joy,” said a local church member. “The Cinema Club is such a simple idea, but it brings so much happiness. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of it.”
As the Cinema Club continues to grow, both Burford House and ChristChurch look forward to deepening their partnership and exploring new ways to bring the community together.
