Enhancing the extensive activities available, Burford also boasts a luxury cinema room, hair and nail salon, and its very own Burford Bar, an additional social space for residents to enjoy.
Burford's in-house professional chef creates nutritious multi-national menus, which can be enjoyed in the social dining rooms or in the privacy of one’s bedroom. An opulent private fine dining area on the ground floor is available for hire to enjoy more personal celebrations and events.
Respite Care Services
Short term private respite care provision is available via a pre-booking system. Minimum 2 weeks stay is required to guarantee availability, subject to assessment. Please contact the team to discuss in further detail.
Set in a residential area of Chorleywood, the home has a tranquil sensory garden for residents to enjoy outdoor barbecues and al fresco dining. It also includes a greenhouse where they can grow and nurture their own plants.

My husband was not well enough to go home from hospital, and the staff at Burford House took my telephone call, arranged an assessment, organised the transport & medication and had him installed in a lovely room within 24 hours. I cannot praise Burford House enough. My husband was not well enough to go home from hospital, and the staff at Burford House took my telephone call, arranged an assessment, organised the transport & medication and had him installed in a lovely room within 24 hours. Everything was done for him to make him feel comfortable and the staff were all incredible and so friendly. The food is delicious, and every care is taken to treat each resident individually. Visitors also are welcomed, and greeted warmly, and supported throughout. Top marks!

I had superb care from the staff at Burford House, the day to day dedication and kindness they endeavoured to provide could not be faulted. The welcome committee and medical staff deserve special mention. I had a slight problem with the timing of meals, I felt supper was far too early, it left a large period of time between the evening meal and breakfast. I gather it was a staffing issue. I would use this facility again.

It's a very difficult decision to make when deciding a loved relative needs 24hr care. Burford House made the transition easy. The staff were extremely caring to all our mother's needs & there were lots of activities & entertainment to keep her engaged. She made several friends who she had lots of laughs with & loved the fact that she was able to drink wine at meal times!
The interior & exterior of the building have a calming feel & everything is well kept and clean.

Ever since Mum has been in Burford House she has been very well cared for. She has a lovely room which is kept clean and meals are delicious and appropriate. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and it feels like a happy place to be. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

My neighbour had a major incident and went to hospital. From here he went to Burford House for respite. At first he was uneasy but soon decided that he needed to stay. The care, friendly staff and food convinced him that this was the place for him.

It has been a big step for her going from independent living to the care home environment, and not without teething problems in the first few weeks. However the staff always listened to family concerns and acted immediately to adjust things to better suit mum and we know she is now in a safe environment being cared for 24/7.

The home is welcoming and friendly. There is always an activity to join in with The staff are involved and approachable. The decor and the rooms are top class. The food is excellent and portions are good.

With over 18 years of experience in acute care at the Royal Free Hospital, specialising in Neurology and Neurosurgery, Tinashe brings a wealth of clinical knowledge to his role. He joined Westgate Healthcare in 2020 as a Nurse at St Paul's Care Centre and quickly progressed due to his dedication and expertise. In 2022, he became Clinical Lead at Burford House, before progressing to Deputy Manager and, in 2026, was promoted to Home Manager. Throughout his career, Tinashe has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting his colleagues and delivering exceptional care for residents.
Tinashe holds an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and a NEBOSH qualification, alongside specialist training in neurology and critical care. A finalist in the ‘Nurse of the Year 2023’ category at the Great British Care Awards, Tinashe is passionate about learning, leadership, and upholding high standards across Westgate Healthcare.
