Mum has been at Riverdale Care Home since November 2023, during her stay she has received the most outstanding care, she was fully embraced into the Riverdale family as were her family and enjoyed all the activities, the food and the staff at all levels have been amazing. Sadly Mum passed away recently
at Riverdale and the support, dignity and going the extra mile during this difficult time cannot be underestimated. On this review we cannot name names that would in itself be too difficult as there are too many staff to mention for their outstanding support. THANK YOU RIVERDALE.
Reply from Sarah Williams, Marketing Manager at Riverdale Care HomeWe are deeply saddened by the loss of your Mum and would like to extend our sincere condolences to you and your family. It means a great deal to us that you have taken the time to recognise the care, compassion and support provided during her time with us.
It was our privilege to welcome Mum and your family into our community. We are delighted to hear that she enjoyed the activities, food and the company of both residents and staff, and that she felt truly part of the Riverdale family.
Your kind words about the dignity, compassion and support shown during such a difficult time are especially meaningful. Excellent care helping our Mum to recover from surgery after a fall. Staff took time to talk to Mum, have a chat and a laugh, and make her feel special. The team worked with Mum to encourage her to do the exercises' from the physio and to get her to be able to stand again. It was a long road to some
recovery but the staff continued to be encouraging and kind to Mum. Staff kept us well informed of progress and helped with the many hospital visits and transport that had to be arranged. Staff were responsive to any other medical needs for example arranging for antibiotics to be administered when there was an infection.
Mum is now confident to move onto the next place and continue to build on the good work started at Westgate. Thank you to all the staff including catering ( Mum likes her food), housekeeping, nursing, OT, admin and management.
Reply from Sarah Williams, Marketing Manager at Westgate House Care CentreThank you for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that your Mum felt so well supported during her recovery. Riverdale Care Home

From the moment my grandmother arrived at Riverdale, she was treated with kindness, dignity and genuine care. Over time it truly became home to her, and knowing she was happy and cared for brought comfort to our family.
A special thank you to Summer for the wonderful care and activities she organised,
and to Lisa and Jeanette on reception who were always welcoming, compassionate and helpful.
Nan loved the food and always looked forward to the Tuesday hair appointments, which made her feel so much better in herself. Riverdale also made our whole family feel welcome, especially with the private lounge areas, afternoon teas and unlimited coffee during visits.
Although Nan sadly passed away in hospital, the compassion shown afterwards meant so much. The staff carefully packed her belongings for us and thoughtfully placed them in the library rather than us having to go straight into an empty bedroom, which we will never forget.
Thank you to everyone at Riverdale

I stayed in St. Paul's after an accident and 3 weeks in hospital. When I arrived I had extremely limited, only walking a short distance using a walking frame. I had neither the confidence or the ability to do much at all.
After 8 weeks I was transformed. Care of the highest standard to cater for my
every need both physically and emotionally. My clothes were washed and returned in a few hours. My room was thoroughly cleaned every morning. There were multiple activities if you so wished,. The meals were excellent and brought to my room 3 times a day, the facilities were of the highest standard and I had physio 3 times a week with Jagdish who was caring talented and improved me physically and emotionally beyond recognition.
By far the most important aspect for me was the constant support of the carers. They treated me with dignity and and always had a listening ear. This was particularly important as I had lost my husband recently. They will remain in my heart forever, Thank you
Reply from Sarah Williams, Marketing Manager at St Pauls Care CentreThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are truly honoured that you chose St. Paul's during such a difficult period in your life.

Recovering both physically and emotionally after your accident and the loss of your husband must have been incredibly challenging, and we are so pleased that our carers, housekeeping, catering, activities team, and physiotherapist Jagdish were able to support you throughout your journey.

It is wonderful to hear how much progress you made over the 8 weeks and that you felt treated with dignity, compassion, and kindness every day. Creating a warm, supportive environment where residents feel safe, valued, and cared for is at the heart of everything we do.

Chestnut Manor Care Home

from J P (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 May 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We chose Chestnut Manor for my elderly mother when she needed nursing care 3 years ago and it was a great move for her.
There is a real sense of family and community there, helped by the welcoming entrance cafe and beautiful decor and courtyard; friendly members of staff at all levels; an excellent
activities team and engaged carers who treated her with kindness and respect.
It's had its moments over the 3 years but is now very well managed and well staffed.
She wanted to die in familiar surroundings with those she loved nearby and she was able to do that, with the home providing end of life care to her, but also supporting us with great kindness through a difficult time.
Thank you all very much.

Westgate House Care Centre

from Maxine A (Respite Resident) assisted by family/friend published on 15 May 2026

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
I stayed at Westgate as an NHS respite patient, following fractures to my lumbar spine. Overall, I would say that the staff at Westgate provide a comprehensive care service for their elderly, vulnerable residents. The staff were patient and friendly, the building was clean and regularly maintained,
and the facilities were excellent. My rehabilitation through physiotherapy was excellent, the team being patient, understanding, and they literally helped me back on my feet. The only downside was Westgate's claim to cater for special diets, when they obviously could not. I required a dairy free/low wheat diet, which was explained thoroughly to the team, but I was consistently presented with food which contained dairy, was low quality, inadequate portions, poorly presented, and sometimes cold. Consequently, I lost weight. The menu system required each resident to choose from a verbal list presented by a time-pressured staff member, where I would instantly forget what I ordered. To Westgate's management credit, they did change this system to a written menu, so a copy was left with the resident, but the food quality didn't really change during my stay. If the food situation was better, I would consider long-term care at Westgate.
Reply from Sarah Williams, Marketing Manager at Westgate House Care CentreThank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stay at Westgate, and we are very pleased to hear that you felt supported during your recovery following your spinal fractures.

We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding the dining experience and special dietary requirements. We are sorry to hear that your dairy-free and low-wheat dietary needs were not consistently met during your stay, and that this affected both your enjoyment of meals and your weight. This is clearly not the standard we aim to provide.

Your comments regarding food quality, presentation, portion sizes, temperature, and the original menu ordering process have been noted carefully. We are pleased that the introduction of written menus improved part of the experience, but we recognise there is still more work to do to ensure residents with specialist dietary needs receive meals that are both suitable and enjoyable.
