Burford House Care Home, the latest luxury addition to Westgate Healthcare, opened its doors in September 2022, offering first-class residential, nursing, palliative and respite care to accommodate 46 people.

Following a complete re-design and re-build, the home features spacious en-suite rooms, luxurious lounges and social dining areas for residents to socialise in, a relaxed café to sit and chat over a cup of tea or coffee and a quieter space, the orangery.

Enhancing the extensive activities available, Burford also boasts a luxury cinema room, hair and nail salon, and its very own Burford Bar, an additional social space for residents to enjoy.

Burford's in-house professional chef creates nutritious multi-national menus, which can be enjoyed in the social dining rooms or in the privacy of one’s bedroom. An opulent private fine dining area on the ground floor is available for hire to enjoy more personal celebrations and events.

Respite Care Services
Short term private respite care provision is available via a pre-booking system. Minimum 2 weeks stay is required to guarantee availability, subject to assessment. Please contact the team to discuss in further detail.

Set in a residential area of Chorleywood, the home has a tranquil sensory garden for residents to enjoy outdoor barbecues and al fresco dining. It also includes a greenhouse where they can grow and nurture their own plants.

Burford House is close to local shops and amenities and residents are not far away from picturesque villages of Little Chalfont and Amersham.

We were welcomed so warmly and all the staff, from management through to the care staff, have shown their professionalism and real care and interest, right from the beginning.
My mum settled in within days, she felt secure and cared for and within a week, felt at home. Thank you all so much!

I recently visited for the Christmas fair, it was so nice and the new building was amazing. The staff clearly care for the residents and their families and it’s very well located. I would highly recommend. The customer relations manager and her team do a fantastic service.

The care home is new and benefits from this. It has been well designed and has many attractive features. The staff are well trained and very kind but, being predominantly foreign, there are a few problems with being understood from time to time. The food is generally good and there are extra choices
for those who are more difficult to satisfy. A plus is that wine is offered both at lunch and supper! It is always clean and tidy. The staff arranging entertainment try hard and are very kind but possibly extra activities could be attempted. Laundry arrangements take a bit of understanding and can occasionally result in returns being incorrect. The care and support provided always seem to be kind and readily available. The management has recently changed but the change has not resulted in any noticeable difference to the operation.
Price wise the costs seem to be a little high but I guess that one is getting value for the money paid.

My son needed post-operative care following major surgery. Burford House Care Home turned out to be the perfect solution. From the moment we entered the front door, we realised our hopes had been answered. The friendliness, care and competence of all the staff sets it apart from other establishments

My experience of being a resident at Burford House was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful, this indeed both the day staff and the night staff. They were so good and brought me an extra cup of tea just before going to sleep, which was lovely.
The nursing staff were excellent (I was
recovering from a major operation), and they were able to deal with my medicine and stitches and give me the reassurance I needed.
The food was excellent, very tasty, and they were always able to provide an alternative to the day's main dish. My only one criticism was that there was too much soup (twice a day, every day), some variation in the starters would have been good.

My husband was resident at Burford House Care Home for over four months. Whilst he would of course prefer to be at home, I found the care I could provide inadequate and Burford provided that very adequately. The staff are superb, patient, personable and efficient. He found socialising rather noisy
and overwhelming but the presence of people laughing and enjoying themselves added to a cheerful happy atmosphere.
The food, as in any place, became monotonous though efforts were made to liven it up. Fresh fruit, drinks and snacks were always freely available and no objection was made in me bringing in further snacks.
Overall, a caring, happy place to be in to be nursed and cared for.

Did not participate in any activities. Meals were late and some courses were missed on these dates (05/6/23, 07/06/23, 08/06/23 and 16/06/23) and this caused some stress. I found it difficult to adjust but after ten days, I was fine. Thank you for the care that I received, it was first-class.

From the time you walk in, Burford House creates a warm welcome, always with a smile on the front desk and in the office to the left. All the staff are fantastic, caring and kind to my mother and father, who visits daily. Nothing is a problem, they are all willing to help regarding any issues or requests.
All I can say is this care home is outstanding in every manner and I am truly blessed it's on our doorstep.

Dad became a resident of Burford House earlier this year. From the moment Dad entered the building he was treated with kindness, reassurance and courtesy, this kindness was also extended to his family. The whole home is extremely clean and decorated to a high standard. The care Dad receives on a day-to-day
basis is exceptional from absolutely every staff member, nothing is ever too much trouble for anyone. Each day there are activities and everyone is included along with the local community. Dad very much enjoyed cooking with some local school children and enjoyed a pint of Guinness on St Patrick’s Day. There is always an amazing choice of food which is prepared and served to a high standard. Dad's physical and mental well-being has improved dramatically since he has been a resident and I can’t thank everyone enough for all that they do!

Burford House was the perfect choice for my mother to recover from a fall. All the staff were kind, considerate and professional. Nothing was too much bother. The facilities are impressive, well-designed and modern but still with a homely feel. When visiting, I was always made to feel very welcome,
and the staff always found time to listen. My mum could not have been in safer hands, and I cannot thank them enough.

Tinashe Jongwe

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2020

With over 18 years of experience in acute care at the Royal Free Hospital, specialising in Neurology and Neurosurgery, Tinashe brings a wealth of clinical knowledge to his role. He joined Westgate Healthcare in 2020 as a Nurse at St Paul’s Care Centre and quickly progressed due to his dedication and expertise. In 2022, he became Clinical Lead at Burford House, and has recently been promoted to Deputy Manager in recognition to his dedication and commitment supporting the team in delivering exceptional resident care and professional development.


Tinashe holds an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and a NEBOSH qualification, alongside specialist training in neurology and critical care. A finalist in the ‘Nurse of the Year 2023’ category at the Great British Care Awards, Tinashe is passionate about learning, leadership, and upholding high standards across Westgate Healthcare.
