Early September sees the annual garden party at Millway House care home in Andover and, despite a few showers this year, the sun was certainly shining inside the marquee.

With the bunting up and the best crockery at the ready, plus tea and cakes aplenty, residents and staff were excited to greet their guests. “We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of the Test Valley, Councillor Gordon Bailey, and Mayoress Mrs Karen Hamilton,” said care home manager Claire Lousteau.

“It was also lovely to have serving soldiers from the 26 Engineers Regiment at Perham Down join us, together with members of the local Veterans’ Breakfast Club,” said Claire. Millway House achieved Veteran Friendly Framework accreditation earlier this year and has forged close links with local armed forces and veterans’ networks.

From delicious sweet treats to singing, dancing and plenty of laughter, it was a truly special afternoon for everyone. The wonderful Amanda filled the marquee with music, which made it even more special.

At Millway we absolutely love hosting our garden party each year. It’s a chance for our whole community – including our amazing volunteers, families, friends, residents and staff – to come together, enjoy each other’s company and make happy memories.”
