Residents, staff and families at RMBI Care Co. Home Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court, in Braintree, recently came together for a truly special celebration – their very own carnival day!
Staff transformed the Home’s grounds into a colourful fairground for the afternoon, filled with games, laughter and plenty of opportunities for fun. Residents and their guests enjoyed classic carnival stalls including a coconut shy, ski ball, football challenge and even a mini golf game.
One of the most popular activities was the face painting, which proved a hit with residents and staff alike. Many were delighted to embrace their playful side, with one staff member sharing that it made them feel “very pretty”. The face painter described the event as “a lovely day with lovely people” and said how much she enjoyed visiting the Home.
Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court also welcomed a familiar favourite – the ice cream van. Its arrival was met with smiles all round, as residents tucked into classic cones that brought a refreshing and nostalgic treat.
The highlight of the afternoon, however, was a mesmerising performance from guest contortionist Claudia. Set to calming music, her graceful routine captivated the audience, who admired her beautiful costumes and elegant makeup. Resident Betty said: “I wish I could do her makeup like that!”
Afterwards, Claudia stayed to chat, take photos, and encourage those who were able to try a few poses themselves. Resident Bill was so taken with the performance that he requested a photo for his room as a keepsake.
Activities Coordinator Sophie says: “The day was a wonderful celebration of community spirit. There was joy, colour and connection. Events like these show the vibrant life at our Home, as we always strive to create lasting memories for everyone involved.”
