Spirits are flourishing at Rowden House in Frome, as residents and colleagues at the respite, residential and day care home celebrate being awarded a Silver Gilt in the 2025 Frome in Bloom competition.
The Frome in Bloom competition encourages the local community to come together to ‘take pride in Frome’. Answering the rallying call for entries earlier this year, Rowden House put themselves forward for the Krage Cup, which is open to ‘hospitals, community homes and retirement homes’.
Residents and carers at the home came together to make a plan for their competition entry, and set about making Rowden House flourish! Their efforts were rewarded when judges awarded the care home a Silver Gilt.
Rebecca Evans, Rowden House manager, says:
“Our residents and staff loved taking part in Frome in Bloom – and we’re thrilled that their efforts and enthusiasm were recognised by a Silver Gilt award!
“Being a converted period home, Rowden House is blessed with beautiful grounds and large gardens – something which our residents and their visitors love to enjoy and cultivate. Given our green-fingered residents and their enthusiasm for all things horticultural, it seemed only natural that the home should take part in a floral competition at the heart of its local community.
“Gardening and growing is such a tonic for the soul, and our Frome in Bloom accolade has provided a further boost to our residents’ wellbeing.”
It’s not only the Frome in Bloom judges who rate the Rowden House gardens so highly. A carehome.co.uk review from a visitor to Rowden House noted that the home’s “outside grounds and gardens and seating and outdoor room were all cared for and colourful”, and rated their overall experience as 5-stars.
Part of the not-for-profit Somerset Care Group, Rowden House in Frome offers day care, respite breaks and residential care within a thoughtfully-modernised period property which retains its elegance, charm and period features.
