Residents of Brinnington Hall Care Home in Stockport, Manchester, were treated to a special cinema trip to watch the latest Downton Abbey film, bringing a touch of period drama and nostalgia to their week.
The outing was organised as part of the home’s popular Cinema Club, which gives residents the chance to enjoy both timeless classics and the latest blockbusters. While Brinnington Hall is proud to offer its very own dedicated cinema room on-site, complete with a big screen and comfortable seating, colleagues arranged the trip out so residents could enjoy the magic of the silver screen at a local cinema.
Accompanied by members of the care team, residents immersed themselves in the glamour of the Crawley family’s world, enjoying the film’s costumes, characters and storylines. The afternoon sparked plenty of conversation afterwards, with residents sharing their favourite scenes and memories of visiting the cinema in years gone by.
Residents agreed the film was a hit, with one commenting that it felt “just like stepping back in time.”
Brinnington Hall Care Home remains committed to offering a wide range of enriching activities to support residents’ wellbeing, independence and enjoyment of life. With the success of the Downton Abbey trip, the home’s Cinema Club is already planning its next feature.
Brinnington Hall has been celebrating recent activities and events with residents and families, reflecting on cosy autumnal days ahead including upcoming seasonal highlights and other autumn-themed events, offering opportunities for meaningful connections and community engagement.
Nichola Worts, Home Manager at HC-One’s Brinnington Hall Care Home, said: “Our Cinema Club is hugely popular here at Brinnington Hall. Having our own cinema room means residents can enjoy the big screen experience whenever they like, but outings like this bring something extra special – they’re about creating shared moments, sparking happy memories and giving residents the chance to experience the buzz of the cinema together.”
