Residents at HC-One’s Larkhill Hall Care Home in West Derby, Liverpool, welcomed the autumn season in style by taking part in a heartwarming arts and crafts activity, where they created a colourful “Thankful Tree” to celebrate gratitude, creativity, and community spirit.
The activity encouraged residents to hand-paint vibrant autumn leaves in rich shades of red, gold, and orange before writing down what they were most thankful for. The leaves were then carefully placed on the branches of the “Thankful Tree,” which now stands proudly on display within the home as a symbol of positivity and reflection.
Residents shared a variety of touching and uplifting messages during the activity – with many expressing gratitude for family, friends, good health, and the companionship they enjoy at Larkhill Hall. The project not only brought out artistic flair but also provided residents with a chance to reminisce, reflect, and connect with one another in meaningful conversation.
To round off the creative afternoon, residents and colleagues took a trip to a local pub, where they enjoyed a delicious lunch together. The outing gave everyone the chance to relax, socialise, and continue the day’s celebrations in a warm and welcoming setting. Laughter, good food, and great company made the day extra special.
The “Thankful Tree” will remain on display at Larkhill Hall throughout the season, bringing colour and inspiration to residents, families, and visitors alike. Activities like the Thankful Tree project are part of Larkhill Hall’s wider programme of events, designed to promote creativity, inclusion, and joy while supporting each individual to live a fulfilling life.
The past summer months at Larkhill Hall have been filled with fun activities for residents, from garden parties to creative workshops, bringing warmth and joy to the community. As the home celebrates the close of summer, colleagues and residents are preparing to embrace the colder months ahead, including seasonal events like the Harvest Festival, which promise to keep spirits high and the sense of community thriving.
Lisa Casey, Home Manager at HC-One’s Larkhill Hall Care Home, said: “Our residents absolutely loved the activity. The Thankful Tree is such a beautiful way of expressing gratitude, and it was heartwarming to hear all the things that mean so much to our residents. Finishing the day with a pub lunch really brought everyone together and created lasting memories for both residents and colleagues.”
