Pulborough School Pupils Visit Anchorage Care Home for Special Time Capsule Event.

Pulborough, 30 September 2025 – Pupils from St Mary’s C of E Primary School in Pulborough, led by Mrs Hatcher, enjoyed a delightful visit to The Anchorage Care Home today, taking part in a unique Time Capsule event that celebrated connections across generations.

Children and residents each completed Time Capsule sheets, sharing fascinating insights into their lives, hobbies, and favourite memories. These sheets were combined with items such as a national newspaper, the Met Office weather report for Pulborough, CQC information, Carehome.co.uk review details, a care home brochure, local village magazines, photographs, newsletters from the past year, and a cross crafted from a Cedar tree of Lebanon.

During the event, pupils impressed residents with readings from their sheets, while residents shared their own stories, highlighting both the differences and similarities between generations.

The event took place in the care home’s garden beside the pond, under glorious autumn sunshine. The carefully prepared Time Capsule box was buried in the garden, accompanied by a letter to the “Future Finder,” sparking curiosity about who might discover it and what they will think.

Mrs Copus, Head Teacher at St Mary’s, added: “It is fantastic to have such a strong link with The Anchorage.”

Staff at The Anchorage described the day as “a moment to remember, celebrating the connection between Pulborough children, our residents, and the wider community. Documenting these connections is so important, as it shapes the way our home is run and highlights the vital role everyone plays in supporting and guiding us. Their dedication ensures The Anchorage remains a place full of compassion, dignity, and excellent care.”
