At Westgate Healthcare, wellbeing sits at the heart of everything we do. We believe every resident should have the opportunity to enjoy activities that bring joy, purpose, and connection to daily life. To strengthen this commitment, we have been a proud and active member of NAPA (National Activity Providers Association) for over eight years. NAPA is the UK’s leading charity that supports activity and engagement in care services.

Our commitment to meaningful activities NAPA places meaningful activity and engagement at the centre of care. The charity promotes the belief that living life well is just as important as receiving quality care. This vision aligns perfectly with Westgate Healthcare.

By working in partnership with NAPA, we continually refine our activity programmes to meet the interests, passions, and wellbeing needs of our residents. Across our homes, we create experiences that are enriching, purposeful, and tailored to each individual.

Lucie attends NAPA Leaders Network launch On 16 September, our Group Wellbeing Manager, Lucie, attended the launch of the NAPA Leaders Network. This initiative brings together care sector leaders who are passionate about meaningful engagement and best practice in activity provision.

The Leaders Network will provide quarterly briefings on activity and wellbeing in care and meet twice a year. The launch event brought together 13 leaders from across the sector. Hilary Woodhead, CEO of NAPA, led the day, which featured inspiring sessions on leadership and innovation in activities.

The event included: Vision setting – shaping the future direction and priorities of the Leaders Network. Inspiration – keynote speaker Ed Watkinson shared insights from over 25 years in social care, including roles as a CQC inspector, registered home manager, and consultant. Connection – leaders shared ideas and best practice in group sessions. Celebration – recognising the importance of leadership in activity provision.

Reflecting on the event, Lucie said: “It really was a very exciting and inspiring day with a lot of experience and knowledge in the room.”

The NAPA Leaders Network marks an important step in creating a space where care leaders can connect, share ideas, and shape the future of meaningful engagement.

Supporting wellbeing across all Westgate homes Being part of NAPA for over eight years has strengthened our commitment to wellbeing in every Westgate home. Our dedicated teams work hard to provide activities that support physical, emotional, and social wellbeing every day.

Residents enjoy a wide range of activities, including:

In addition, NAPA supports our staff with professional development opportunities across the group. This includes training, qualification programmes, eLearning courses, webinars, conferences, and access to resources and tools to enhance practice. Many of our team have gained qualifications through NAPA, helping them grow their careers while delivering person-centred, high-quality activity provision.
