Happy hens and fresh eggs at Hengist Field Care Home

Well, what can we say? Our Hengist Field Care Home chickens have been absolutely amazing! Since incubating them and watching them hatch, they’ve grown so much and are now around seven months old. We have Elvis, our impressive cockerel (who is huge!), along with our three pretty hens: Dusty, Dolly, and Nancy.

Our hens have now started laying eggs, which we’re proudly selling, with all profits going into our Residents Fund. The feedback has been fantastic — everyone says the eggs are delicious, with beautifully golden yolks.

We’ve also introduced Chicken Therapy, which has been a big hit with our residents. Our smallest hen, Nancy, takes the spotlight for this activity — she’s quite happy strutting around in her little harness and loves being cuddled and stroked.

Our ladies and gents adore the chickens and often visit them in our garden. We feel so lucky to have such charming (and productive!) feathered friends bringing joy to our Home.
