A recent graduate of Bridgwater and Taunton College has been welcomed with great enthusiasm as a permanent member of the activities team at Avalon Nursing Home where she did her student placement.
Seventeen-year-old Olive Trowsdale, who lives in Bridgwater, wowed colleagues at Avalon with the dedication she showed to their residents, volunteering in her own time to support both the activities and care teams on trips, outings, school visits, and themed days.
Lisa Priddice, a fellow activities co-ordinator at Avalon, said: “Olive first came to us over a year ago as a college placement student while studying Health and Social Care.
“During her work placement she gained valuable insight into the healthcare sector while supporting colleagues throughout the home.
“Throughout her time with us, Olive has shown herself to be caring, compassionate, hardworking, and a true team player.
“Our residents thoroughly enjoy Olive’s presence and her youthful enthusiasm, which she balances with maturity, a strong work ethic, and a genuine willingness to learn and grow.
“The fact that during her placement she was willing to come into Avalon outside her allotted hours showed how much she was enjoyed the experience, and once she qualified we simply couldn’t let her go.
“Olive is a great asset to the home, and we are very proud to welcome her as our newest member of staff.”
