Residents and team members at HC-One’s Rivendell View Care Home in Stoke Bardolph, Nottingham, enjoyed a truly heartwarming day as they welcomed children and families from Bits & Bobs Playgroup for a special intergenerational visit filled with smiles, laughter, and shared joy.

The lounge at Rivendell View was alive with excitement as residents and children took part in a range of fun activities together, from singing songs and storytelling to simple games and playtime. The visit sparked plenty of conversation and laughter, helping to create lasting memories for both the residents and the young visitors.

The visit forms part of Rivendell View’s commitment to fostering strong community links and promoting wellbeing through meaningful engagement. Intergenerational sessions such as these have been shown to boost mood, stimulate memory, and encourage positive social interaction among older adults, while providing young children with valuable opportunities to build confidence and communication skills.

Cara Stockill, Home Manager at HC-One’s Rivendell View Care Home said:

“It was truly wonderful to see the faces of our residents light up as they interacted with the children. These intergenerational sessions are so valuable – they not only bring joy and energy into the home but also help to promote emotional wellbeing, reduce feelings of loneliness, and give residents a sense of purpose and connection. The children benefit too, learning empathy, kindness, and understanding from spending time with our residents.”
