Ruby Lodge Care Home Celebrate 1st Anniversary with Gatsby-Party

Ruby Lodge Care Home in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, recently celebrated its first anniversary with a dazzling Gatsby-themed event. Since opening in September 2024, Ruby Lodge has become a lively hub for residents, families, and staff.

Customer Relations Manager Jane Crisp opened the event by thanking residents, families, and the Thirsk Community for their support over the past year:

‘Our first year has been a busy one, thanks to the incredible support of our local community. We've hosted a variety of events, including vibrant summer fairs to our festive Christmas Fair, and the ever-popular coffee mornings.’

Resident Graham, one of Ruby Lodge’s 1st residents, also gave a touching speech to open the event: 'On behalf of myself and other residents, I’d like to thank everyone involved in the care and management of Ruby Lodge for making it such a happy and comfortable place to live.'

Chef Manager Lauren Jones created a menu inspired by the Gatsby era, complemented by the signature mocktail, ‘The Golden Russian,’. The event’s entertainment featured a 1920s performance by guest Paula The Vintage Singer, captivating magic tricks by Magician James, and personalised caricatures by artist Deano.

Wellbeing Coordinator Lead Lydia Reynolds added a special touch to the event with handmade Gatsby-style headpieces & buttonholes for residents.

“Residents thoroughly enjoyed dancing, taking photos, and taking in the atmosphere,” said Home Manager, Holly Hunton. “For one resident who lived through the 1920s, the event brought back wonderful memories. Our whole team embraced the Gatsby theme, dressing up in true 1920s style.”

The celebrations concluded with resident Graham cutting the anniversary cake, marking the end of a truly memorable day.

Guests praised the event, commenting: “It’s been a fantastic day—more than we expected!” “Ruby Lodge feels like a 5-star hotel.” “It’s incredible to see the wonderful work the home has achieved in just one year.”
