Residents at Woodbury Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently took part in an inspiring local arts initiative called Laindon Voices, a community project led by Studio 40, the architectural practice commissioned by Creative Basildon and Arts Council England.
As part of the project, Studio 40 is collecting stories and memories from local residents to help shape a series of creative artworks and trails celebrating Laindon’s rich history and community spirit.
Two of Woodbury Court’s residents, Charlie and Ann, had a wonderful time reminiscing with the Studio 40 team, sharing fond memories of Laindon train station and other moments from years gone by. Their stories will help inspire the final designs that will be showcased as part of the completed project.
Mel, Home Manager at Woodbury Court, said:
“It’s been a joy to see our residents’ memories come to life through this creative project. We’re so proud to be part of something that connects generations and honours Laindon’s rich local heritage.”
The atmosphere during the visit was buzzing with excitement, as residents reflected on the past and enjoyed engaging conversations about their shared memories of the area.
Woodbury Court is thrilled to have been invited to view the finished artworks once they are complete and looks forward to welcoming the Studio 40 team back soon to collect more stories of old Laindon.
