LOCAL CARE HOME CELEBRATES GOOD CQC RATING

Staff and residents from Bedewell Grange care home on Campbell Park Road in Hebburn are celebrating because the home passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall ‘Good’ rating, with an ‘Outstanding’ rating in the Caring category.

The CQC inspected the home in August 2025 and rated the home, run by Barchester Healthcare, as ‘Good’ overall. Bedewell Grange was praised for operating a responsive, safe, effective, caring and well-led service.

The report stated that Bedewell Grange was very well-led and that the provider, registered manager and staff team were passionate about people's well-being and went above and beyond to help people achieve their goals and aspirations by building their confidence and breaking down barriers to increase independence.

The report highlighted some of the feedback the inspectors had received on their visit. It was packed full of positive comments from residents, relatives and healthcare professionals such as: “Staff are exceptional at treating people with kindness, empathy and compassion and at respecting people’s privacy and dignity.” “Staff communicate with people in an exceptionally caring and compassionate way. They give people time to respond, listen to them and provide sensitive support to ensure people's needs were promoted” and “Staff are always so welcoming and approachable.”

It continued with further comments such as: “I have made friends with the staff and different groups of people”, “People have a glass of Prosecco while they are having their hair done”, I think it is brilliant, everything they do for Mam is brilliant.” “Staff are gentle with the residents, they are getting to know Mam, they know she doesn’t talk much.” “When I came in last week, a singer was in, all the residents were clapping, and dancing. I was depressed when I came in, I went home really cheered up!”

In celebration of their Good rating, and to thank members of staff for their dedication to the home, each team member was presented with £100 gift voucher in appreciation of their hard work at a party for the team, residents, friends and family. Everyone enjoyed a glass of fizz and
