Remembrance Sunday, a time for reflection and remembrance.

Last Updated: 09 Nov 2025 @ 00:00 AM

Remembrance Sunday is held in the United Kingdom as a day to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts. It is held on the second Sunday in November (the Sunday nearest to 11 November, Armistice Day,] the anniversary of the end of hostilities in World War I in 1918). Remembrance Sunday, within the Church of England, falls in the liturgical period of Allsaintstide.

This morning, Tyspane Care Home residents, friends, families, professionals, carers and staff reflected on those who had lost family members and friends during the First and Second World Wars, a two-minute silence was held at eleven am.

Later in the day, they were joined by the D Day Dollies to remember songs from the First and Second World Wars. World War music, particularly from World War 1 and World War 11, featuring iconic songs that reflected the emotions, experiences, and resilience of those times. The songs sung by the D Day Dollies conveyed messages of love, loss, hope, and patriotism, resonating deeply with those residents affected by the war.
