Residents, families, friends and neighbours at HC-One’s Ashworth Grange Care Home in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, came together for a day of fun, music and cake to raise money for BBC Children in Need 2025.

The home incorporated its weekly Wednesday Coffee Morning, a popular community tradition running from 10:30am to 11:30am, into a full day of fundraising activities. Visitors enjoyed freshly brewed coffee, delicious homemade cakes, and a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and smiles.

A bake sale ran throughout the day in reception, featuring a tempting selection of homemade treats baked by colleagues and residents. Team members embraced the spirit of Children in Need by donning yellow outfits, Pudsey-themed T-shirts, and cosy pyjamas.

The highlight of the day came when “Elvis” himself, Chris Williams, entered the building, treating everyone to a performance of classic hits. His lively show had the audience dancing, singing along, and by the end, “all shook up” with joy.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, Ashworth Grange raised an impressive £121.51 for BBC Children in Need.

Kelly Dawson, Front of House Manager at Ashworth Grange, said: “We love to fundraise at Ashworth Grange, and it’s not the first time we’ve supported Children in Need. It’s always such a fun day, lots of colour, lots of laughter, and of course, lots of cake!”

Klair Wood, Activities Co-ordinator, added: “It’s wonderful to see our residents, staff and local community come together for such a great cause. The atmosphere was fantastic all day.”
