Classical Recital from Young Star Duo

Last Updated: 18 Nov 2025 @ 00:00 AM

The atrium to the Chiswick Nursing Home’s Kensington Suite was turned into a near-perfect concert venue for a classical performance from two budding musical stars.

Pianist, Mar (Maria) Umbert Kimura, who studies at the Royal College of Music and violinist, Lewis Lee, from the Guildhall School of Music, held our audience spellbound with a beautiful recital.

The Chiswick’s newly-tuned piano was waiting for Mar as, together with Lewis, they performed a programme of works from Elgar, Massenet and Kreisler. One resident was so moved that she said ‘it brought tears to her eyes’. Residents, family members, friends and staff enjoyed it so much, they hope the young pair will return soon.

Mar and Lewis perform together regularly on the classical music circuit. Mar is already the recipient of The Davison Young Musician Award 2024 and Lewis, a keen chamber music performer, also has a number of awards under his belt. Both promise much for the future. We wish them every success with their continuing studies and look forward to welcoming them back in the not too distant future.
