Queens Court Resident’s Love of Supercars Inspires Surprise

At Queens Court Care Home in Buckhurst Hill, one resident’s lifelong love of fast cars has sparked a joyful and imaginative moment for the whole community.

Resident Olwyn has always had a passion for supercars—especially an electric blue Lamborghini. When asked where this interest began, she fondly recalled her younger days with her late husband, Alan. During their courtship, the pair regularly visited Brands Hatch to watch the racing, creating memories filled with speed, excitement, and shared enthusiasm.

To help bring some of that thrill back into her life, the team has arranged for Olwyn to sit in a real supercar. While the experience is planned for the near future, the Lifestyle Team wanted to give her something special to enjoy while she waited.

Lifestyle Lead Liza Street shared, “Olwyn’s story really touched everyone. When we realised how much supercars meant to her, we wanted to find a way to bring that joy forward. Flo’s drawing captured Olwyn’s spirit perfectly and seeing her reaction was simply wonderful.”

Student volunteer Flo, who spends Monday afternoons at the home, was asked whether she might create something meaningful for Olwyn using her impressive artistic talent. She immediately set to work—and the result has been nothing short of extraordinary. Flo produced a beautiful hand-drawn picture of an electric blue Lamborghini, complete with Olwyn confidently in the driver’s seat.

The artwork has brought immense joy to Olwyn, who has been “over the moon” since receiving it.
