Overview

The Review Score of 8.8 (maximum of 10) for Queens Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 30 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Queens Court Nursing Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.095 for Queens Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (119 Excellents x 5) + (163 Goods x 4) + (53 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 348 Ratings = 4.095

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.667 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Queens Court Nursing Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 18 positive Reviews (90 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 12 Reviews ÷ 18 Target = 0.667

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

8.8 Queens Court Nursing Home has a Review Score of 8.8 (8.762) from 30 Reviews

My mother spent the last 12 weeks of her life at Queens Court Nursing Home. The home has a dynamic and efficient manager who is very proactive in addressing any queries/problems that residents have. She has an open door policy and was always accessible to us. Whilst, on occasion the care staff could have done with another member of staff on duty, the level of care that was provided by the team was outstanding and my mother said that when she had passed away I was to tell the staff that she had felt loved and very well cared for during her time there. My mother's dignity was protected and her wish to be tended only by female staff for personal care was respected at all times. The quality of food was excellent and the rooms were kept spotlessly clean by a dedicated cleaning team. The entertainment provided for residents was varied and my mum said that her best day at the home was when pygmy goats were brought in for residents to cuddle and feed. This is an outstanding home.

Excellent care with a great attitude. Very sympathetic in the final days of my mother's life. I cannot speak highly enough of the management or staff.

I visited my partners Grandmother and I was really shocked at the standards at Queens Court now. Two of the residents had been waiting for the toilet since breakfast (a couple of hours).
The carers around kept shouting out that they were busy but not busy enough to have a sit-down and a chat. One of the staff was so rude, it was completely shocking for her to behave like that in front of people’s families, it's worrying.
I can’t imagine how they would have been speaking and shouting at people if I wasn’t there. To be a carer you are supposed to be caring and this lady was put out by every request and couldn’t have rolled her eyes anymore. Really shocking and concerning.

I am so pleased my mother moved to Queens Court for end of life care. The staff and managers were very friendly, supportive and respectful to my mum and my sister and I. I can't thank them enough for making the end of her life as good as it could have been. They were all so kind to us all at such a difficult time.

My Mum spent the last six weeks of her life in Queens Court. She was very ill when she went into the home and she was always treated with dignity, respect and kindness by all the staff. The manager was excellent and always knew how Mum was whatever time I called. She also always had time for my sister and me, however busy she was. My Mum said she was happy we'd chosen the home for her and so were we.

My mother was referred to a nursing home from the hospital. I was very cautious but chose Queens Court after a visit. To say I wasn't disappointed is an understatement. She was offered everything to meet her needs to make her as comfortable as possible. We, as a family, were treated as friends and were encouraged to bring her dog in and her baby great-grandson, to make her feel at home. Her final days and hours were so peaceful, there were no traumatic moments and Mum passed with peace and dignity. What more could you ask for? All this in only 3 weeks.

My mother was seriously ill and came to Queens Court for palliative care. I cannot fault the care and kindness that she received from all staff- from the manager through to the ward of staff. It was comforting to know that in her final days mum was well cared for and safe.

My mums stay in the nursing home was relatively short but in that time we found the management and staff were brilliant. The rooms were neat and tidy, the food was varied and tasty. Overall I have no complaints at all with Queens Court Nursing Home, my daughter and I have been back since my mums passing to thank all the staff.

I cannot give my praises to this care home more than what I have. My grandma was so comfortable and welcomed into this lovely care home. The staff are amazing! Especially the manager. I cannot thank everyone enough for what they did for my grandma while she was seriously ill, and I also couldn't have wished for a better place for her to have stayed and been at.

I have found the standard of care very high at Queens Court.
The activities are great and engaging for residents and friends and family.
Lots of choices at mealtimes and general caring for residents is good.
I'm sure if my father could communicate, he would echo the above.

Care and attention good, improved catering and cleaning maintained to a good standard. Levels of staffing generally good and feeling of teamwork improving. Some members of staff work extra hard to provide support.

My wife has been at Queens Court for 6 years and I have seen improvement in the standard of care within that time. I do feel that maybe more professional staff would help, further ensuring more carers to residents ratio.
Overall, I'm happy with the situation.

I would like to say a big THANK YOU for the care shown to my father who is in nursing care at your home. I am unable to visit personally but have nothing but great feedback from the family who have visited. It has given me a great deal of ease at a difficult time. Your staff are extremely attentive and should be commended on their professionalism.

Carers and other staff are very kind, the activities are so much better now they have a coordinator. The food is generally luke warm and served on plastic plates which my mum doesn't really like. Good laundry service shame there isn't a hot evening meal option. Overall happy with the facilities. It's the staff that make this home. There needs to be a volume limit on some people's televisions it's not very fair on others.

On some days there seem to be a lot of agency staff who my mother is not familiar with. The regular staff are friendly and helpful, but when they are allocated to other departments my mother feels upset, it's nice for residents to see regular staff daily. The home is always clean and all the staff are friendly too. The food is sometimes poor quality I.e cold hard toast but not all the time.

This home has had problems but since new management team has come in timings have improved a lot. My mum looks well, clean. She eats quite well but the food could be better. The staff on her ward are great with her and others. I had no regrets putting Mum in this home, unsure when problems started but again no regrets now.

My sister and I have nothing but praise for the staff in the dementia unit, and the latest management team, and of course some of the other staff on the unit next to it that we have come to know. Even though mother's dementia is taking more of a hold on her she is still thriving in other ways and looks very well thanks to their wonderful care. They are very understanding of her needs and her personality. We are always contacted by the staff regarding anything to do with her health or any other needs she may have.

My cousin was accepted by Queens Court after her house has a prohibition order place on it. The staff have been wonderful, helping her to settle in and advising us and listening to our worries and concerns regarding my relatives health and behaviour.
The family are so relieved that my relative is warm, safe and out of her rodent infested house.
The day centre at Queens Court is a wonderful facility, providing entertainment activities and social contact.
