My mum was a resident up until February at Queens Court and my sister and family were always impressed with the care she received while there. Mum was always treated with dignity and was cared for by staff as though she were one of their own family. We are very grateful to everyone at Queens Court and will miss them.

Reply from Abigail Draper, Customer Relations Team at Queens Court Care Home

My mum was booked in to stay for a month's respite following hip replacement but we moved her home after a week. The staff are lovely people but woefully overstretched meaning call buzzers are ignored for more than half an hour - my mum resorted to telephoning the home then, when they answered, telling them she was upstairs buzzing and could someone come! The rooms are basic and not cleaned well, my mum was in 8 days with only one bedding change on day 5 after we stepped in and requested it. I watched the cleaner check her bed table for crumbs and just wipe up the crumbs, leaving the rest of the table unwiped! The food is very poor and the main reason for moving. Even the staff don't know what they are serving (another observation and hearing conversation). The dining area/tea making area was closed for 3 days for refit without adequate temporary facilities, and with the dining tables still laid out among the dusty works. The overall atmosphere was one of chaos and disorganisation.

Since Dad has been resident, he has improved so much. No longer so lonely as he was at home and much better medically, cognitively and emotionally. The whole atmosphere of Queens Couirt has helped with this. The friendly staff, professional care, good food, diligent attention both pro and reactive to his needs is fantastic! The ambience, decoration and layout makes it a home from home and the amazing activities arranged for residents keep them engaged, happy and involved. Absolutely fantastic, I'm impressed and delighted with every aspect of Queens Court, it's staff and care. Thank you!

So happy to know my husband is being cared for 24/7, and his care here is tip-top. He is in an environment with company and the events manager does an excellent job to keep people's mental situation busy with many heartwarming events which boost their general wellbeing. The staff are excellent, friendly and helpful and the balance of Queens Court seems just right. Well done.

I feel the attention to care is very good, any needs are addressed quickly. The staff are friendly, caring and always busy and nothing is too much trouble for them. The daily activities are organised and varied, run by a wonderful caring person who gives her all to assist the residents and make their lives more enjoyable. She is a credit to the care home.

I have been very impressed with the care, compassion and friendliness of this care home. All the staff have been amazing when we have asked for anything and are always happy to oblige. The activities are well organised and the member of staff running it has so much compassion, empathy and thought for the residents and goes over and above to make them feel special and included and will endeavour to help them with any needs they have, this person is an amazing part of the team.

The home initially appears impressive, with clean, tidy, bedrooms and a wide range of food options, however, my main concern is the lack of staff. While most staff are friendly and helpful, there was no one available to service the front door to let visitors in. My brother stayed at Queens Court for 7 months until he died, he was kept clean but staff never shaved and we had to ask staff to brush his teeth and address his dry flaky skin. Despite raising these issues nothing was done. I found management insensitive to my brother's needs. We were shocked when the manager questioned the value of his external medical appointments stating "What is the point of all these appointments? He is dying anyway." Can staff be mindful to dress residents to accommodate extremely cold weather.

My review will focus on the recent annual BBQ and fete held on the 20th of July 2024. As usual, staff and volunteers 'pulled out all the stops' to provide a relaxed, convivial afternoon for residents, family members and friends. The garden was transformed with bunting fluttering in the breeze, various stalls for residents to visit and a delicious BBQ lunch. A high point of the afternoon was the arrival of the petting zoo. The antics of the animals - piglets, sheep, goats and rabbits - provided much delight and happiness. All in all, this was an afternoon filled with laughter and joy.
