The Orchards Care Home, a Greensleeves Care home in Ely, has become the first residential and dementia care home in the area to achieve the prestigious Gold Standards Framework (GSF) accreditation for excellence in palliative and end-of-life care.

Located within a newly developed community in Ely, The Orchards is a purpose-built, not-for-profit care home offering residential, dementia and respite care. The home sits alongside family housing and a primary school, fostering a vibrant, intergenerational sense of community and connection.

Designed to combine comfort with modern living, The Orchards features spacious en suite bedrooms, bright lounges, a cinema room, and a popular Sky Bar. The home also includes peaceful garden areas that provide space to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.

The home is highly rated on carehome.co.uk, with positive feedback from residents and families recognising the warmth and professionalism of the staff team.

The Gold Standards Framework is a nationally recognised, evidence-based programme that supports care homes to provide the best possible quality of life for residents approaching the end of life. Fewer than 350 care homes across the UK currently hold this accreditation, which signifies excellence in care that upholds dignity, respect and choice.

To achieve accreditation, the team at The Orchards completed comprehensive GSF training, produced a detailed evidence portfolio and underwent a thorough on-site assessment by the national GSF team, confirming that the framework is deeply embedded across all areas of care.

Donna Mills Divisional Director - East for Greensleeves Care, said that the accreditation reflects the home’s commitment to residents and the dedication of the team:

“This achievement is a wonderful recognition of the compassion and professionalism shown by the team at The Orchards every single day.

Being the first care home in Ely to receive this accreditation is something the whole home can be proud of. It demonstrates a shared commitment to supporting residents to live well, with comfort and dignity, right to the end of life.”

The Orchards was accredited along with 10 sister homes from across Greensleeves Care, bringing the total number of accredited homes in the charitable group to 19.
