Barbara, Doris and Jacqui, who all live in London-based Excelcare homes, received a warm welcome at our Central Support Office this week as they took on the special role of judging our annual festive decoration competition.
Before beginning their tour, they joined our COO, Sam Manning, for tea and cakes. This gave everyone a lovely opportunity to chat, get to know each other and set the scene for the festive fun ahead.
Throughout November, colleagues across our central departments were invited to transform their workspaces with imaginative Christmas themes. Over the weeks, offices gradually shifted from their everyday look into enchanting festive scenes. Some teams opted for classic, colour-coordinated décor, while others embraced distinctive concepts to bring their workspaces to life.
This week, our three guest judges from the London homes arrived—accompanied by Home Managers Adam and Charlotte, as well as team members from their homes—to explore each department and choose which groups had created the most festive impact.
Judging was based on four categories: Decorations, Interactivity, Festive Spirit and Theme, with each area able to earn up to 10 points in total.
As they made their way around the building, the judges were genuinely impressed by the creativity and effort on display. Among the highlights were festive treats in Finance, a magical Christmas workshop in Payroll, meeting Father Christmas and his reindeer in IT, a brilliant solo Christmas performance from Osa, Director of People & Resources, and a joyful karaoke session led by the Care Quality, Communications and Digital Transformation Teams.
Every department found its own way to reflect the magic of Christmas, giving our judges a wonderfully immersive and uplifting experience.
After completing their tour, the judges tallied up their scores before joining COO Sam Manning in reception for a live announcement of the results. Team Payroll were crowned this year’s winners, with Finance taking second place and IT coming in third. Barbara, Doris and Jacqui shared how much they enjoyed the event and how the decorations had truly lifted their festive spirits.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Jacqui, Barbara and Doris for spending the day with us and for playing such an important part in our celebrations. It was a pleasure to welcome them into our Support Office and share the Christmas magic together.
